I watched ‘Get me out of here NOW!’ again tonight to see if there were any improvements but it’s still awkard as hell, Maltman does nothing for Creasey - he’s basically steering the show the entire time.
Here’s some basic changes they could make:
- Give Joel & Heather some stools or chairs or something to sit on, less awkward standing around
- Get the hosts to introduce themselves, Chris & Julia do it - so why not these guys? You’re nobodies.
- Dress Heather in something different, she looked 100x times better in their prerecord camp tour tonight
- Get them some smaller prompt cards to hold & have them stop playing around with them so much
- Stop reading tweets off the cards, either put them on a ticker or display them on the tv as it’s so awkward watching them struggle to read them out
- Do some more wide shots of that set leading out to/returning from the ad-breaks, it’s bigger than it looks in the tight shots.
- STOP TRYING SO HARD! Chemistry comes naturally and cannot be forced. Take it easy.
I personally think the Fallout Zone was much better on tenplay last year because it was all just footage of camp and replays of trials etc, it was basically just two mates talking about the show Gogglebox style and was entertaining without forcing anything.
Not a lot of love for Heather on Twitter with some pretty scathing comments about her presentation skills, or serious lack thereof. This spin-off show screams desperate and so not funny, when it could’ve been so good.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens ratings wise.

Johnathan Moran setting a cracking pace early. Day 2 and I’ve already counted 5 stories he has written about the show for News Corp since he has been over there as a guest of Ten. They are getting their money’s worth out of him that’s for sure.

Agree. The Fallout Zone was much better as it focused on camp footage rather than a slapstick routine. The banter between the hosts just comes across as awkward and contrived. Heather is way out of her depth unfortunately. Presenting live is a heck of a challenge so it was a bizarre decision to throw someone with no presenting experience into the deep end.
Ten’s probably trying to side step the show going up against X Files, but it really needs to screen straight after I’m A Celeb finishes so people switch straight over rather than get caught up watching something else.
Impossible, considering “I’m A Celeb” runs over every night and Eleven would be left with dead air after 8.30pm until this show started.
Agree that for NOW! to work it needs to go to air directly after Ten’s coverage. And to do that Ten need to do a better effort of getting it to finish on time. It’s not that hard… I know there’s a live element to the show but even if it ran overtime a few mins I’m sure Eleven could just start simulcasting that overlap snippet and then go into Joel and Heather.
Also for NOW! to have any chance they need to shorten the normal Celeb episodes. 97 mins last night was way to long. They should try and have it finish by 8.45 at the latest. Otherwise it becomes too big a commitment every night for viewers and there won’t be many viewers left wanting to watch more on Eleven.
Btw I think Joel is doing a fantastic job from what I saw last night. He is an asset and I’m very pleased to see him getting a gig like this after going to his shows for years since he was barely an unknown. Heather was always going to take time to find her feet as it’s her first hosting role so it will be interesting to see if there is any improvement there.

In my opinion it should end at 8:30 every night 45 minutes with ads is long enough.
Ideally yes but it has a live element and most reality shows run a bit over. 8.45 is more realistic finish than 8.30. Instead it’s going to about 9.10.
I still don’t think that’s an excuse. I’m a Celeb is made up of content from the previous 24 hours. They only live part is at the end and throughout the show when Julia and Chris speak. It isn’t that hard to make it finish on the time that is proposed. Other countries do it, no excuse that Australian television can’t.

Laurina is going to be quite interesting. You kind of want to see them come back with minimal stars.

Laurina may lack some celebrity status but she is a piece of casting brilliance. She couldn’t care less what people think about her and she will ruffle feathers constantly. Last year was lacking in that department, besides a few narky moments from the Hi 5 girl. I just hope she doesn’t get the boot early on. She has quite the following on social media which should help her stay a while. She plays the villan exceptionally well without even trying.

Some great digital billboards around in Brisbane today with Laurina on them with something about Bachelortte & Bugs, very funny.
I think she’s great too, she was thrust under the spotlight with her dirty street pie comments during Bachelor S2 and she’s got drama written all over her.
She’s just what the camp needs to keep people watching, that and I reckon one Celeb might say those magic words this year. Who will be first?
