What about the Wordle Thread? How do we break the news to @TV.Cynic and @TelevisionAU ??

How about a return of the Word Association Game Thread

I notice that the Spectrum section (discussion of politics around the world) now has a lock next to it.

Was discussed a few days ago

Site seems to be running much faster since the old threads were closed. Good job @OnAir @bacco007 :+1:t2:

Yep agreed, much better now.

There are still some threads that are still active where the number of posts is now over 10K. Here are 2 example topics.

Could this still cause slowdowns on the site?

Federal Politics is also another one which is over 10k.

IMO might not be a bad idea to start a new Seven AFL Coverage thread, given there is the new season about to start

Agreed, perhaps the mods should archive the current Seven AFL Coverage thread and open a fresh new one. Perhaps it’ll also speed up the site just that little bit more.

Paging @OnAir

I’ll take a look later today.

The only problem with the new threads is you need to setup new watch settings so you see new replies more easily. I don’t understand the need to do it in the first place. You can use the search function if necessary in the future you may have to search more than one topic to find what you want. This alone should be reason enough to stop creating new topics going forward in my opinion.

Well it’s not.

In a few weeks it’s going to be just as hard to find stuff without using search unless you are going to create new topics every few months there is no advantage gained.

Lengthy threads seem to cause some performance issues - creating new threads helps alleviate this. This is not the first time we’ve done this

I would simply search the entire board if needed.

is there a way you can set a limit on the threads, so it doesn’t get to the point where it causes the website perfomance issue?

With Cyclone Alfred, if TV-Cynic is out of power (assuming a SEQ member) - how will ratings be posted?

Finally, someone asking the real questions!

Little known fact, the ABC would be forced to carry them as part of their emergency broadcast responsibilities.

The question should be if SEQ is out of power, what ratings data would there be for the area and how would it be collected.
