Maybe I’ll just record as many of the Cyclone Alfred broadcasts on the day of the blackout and post them on my spare channel lol.
Remember the Brisbane floods… I recall questioning the validity of the data then because people weren’t in their own homes and sharing with others etc. It wouldn’t have been accurate… or at least not consistent with the way it was usually collected.
Also what about @fraz who has an FM-DX Webserver active in Brisbane?
If the TEF (and its antennas) aren’t packed down and offline by Thursday, it’ll probably get whirled away by Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
Better get that all packed up then before we lose one of our DX servers then.
I only have a dipole on the roof. I was going to upgrade soon, but I’ll leave the dipole up for now. The server is weeny little Orange Pi Zero on an UPS with the router. If I’m online I haven’t been blown away!
Under the circumstance of more coverage over the coming days off the back of old Alfred, could the like limit be increased for members or (if possible) specific threads?
I see the Cyclone Alfred Coverage and Impact thread got locked due to the number of community flags. Is it possible to get the moderators to keep an eye on the thread when it reopens.
I would love if mods could wield the banhammer tbh. Stupid and tedious derailing of threads by random people who talked to their random neighbours does not a good thread make.
It’s all that one guy. He’s been on here for all of three months and shits up every thread he posts in.
There’s two or three accounts with this tendency - although admittedly I’m yet to see one as spectacular as the shitshow in the Cyclone Alfred thread.
Would honestly like to see mods actually step in. If they have time to contribute to the discussion that is causing members to flag, they have the capacity to actually put people on mod queue or wield the hammer as appropriate.
That Adelaide mass outage some years back comes to mind, I believe OzTAM never released data for that date, at least five city and to media/publicly. And we thought that news was unbelievable.
Sadly information has been removed in recent years due to OZTam’s changes in rules regarding historical data, however, Seven News only got about a thousand viewers according to this article.

OzTAM did release data for that day. As mentioned ratings for programs around 5-6pm were very low. However there were higher figures for later in the night. Doctor Doctor was the highest rated program with 39,000.
Out of pure curiosity, how come Nine (and previously) Seven have separate threads for their late news bulletins but 10 never has?
Seven initially had a unique format for theirs with “The Latest”.
Believe it was because when Seven originally launched theirs, the format was different enough to differentiate it from the main bulletins, Nine probably got one by default.
10’s doesn’t really need one, as other than than when it initially launched it doesn’t receive much chatter.
However, Nine’s isn’t really too different from 10’s, apart from it being presented from different locations and presenters, etc, and not much discussion happens outside of those factors - surely the new thread for Nine’s late bulletin could be locked, and posts merged to other relevant forums (i.e. either content and appearance or presenters, etc) - there’s only about 20 posts in there, so I wouldn’t imagine it would be too hard
