Ideas, Issues, Suggestions

This isn’t always possible and I’m not going to hold back changes because a few people don’t like change.

This said i’ve discovered how to get the original main page back - the categories alone don’t make a lot of sense to be the first thing people see

It was me trying to find the original option

We will have to wait for ‘upstream’ changes (from Discourse) to fix that one - should be soon

This layout is just as bad, half the pages under the ‘Latest’ tab I couldn’t care less about so there’s no need for them to be on the homepage.

There was really no problem with the original layout before the changes were made this morning. Would be nice if there was an option to allow users to revert to how it used to be if they wish.

Easiest option if you want the old style of home page is to switch to Mobile View.

Now you’ve got me second-guessing myself - that view is the default setting

def not what the original layout looked like.
I have no problem with change. as others have said if we are able to have an option to revert to the original layout?

far out - is someone able to paint me a word picture what it looked like and I’ll revert it.

Just to clear up any confusion, the screenshot I posted above is what it currently looks like now. Before today, the left hand side listing the categories was the same, and on the right hand side it listed topics/threads from each category.

Jeez just click latest and chill out

Whatever you’ve done now is really nice! haha got there in the end.

Thanks.

FYI, I never said I didn’t like change. Change is quite fine, for the right reasons.

Good on you @Bacco007 for the continued effort to innovate and keep the site fresh, keep it up please.

PS: I liked what you did.

I can’t remember if i asked this a few years ago or not … anyway…

How is the sites costs paid for? Another forum I use they have introduced a small annual fee to cover the running of the discussion forum… does MediaSpy get a lot of money from advertisements on the website?

I just wonder how it is kept free .

Advertising and donations. He might also put some of his own money into it on occasion, not sure on that front.

The problem with introducing fees is you’ll stop attracting new people to the site and as existing followers gradually leave over time the website will die.

At the moment the ad revenue covers the operating costs but little else - while thats the case, I’m satisfied that we don’t need alternate revenue sources right now, but I’m watching closely to make sure!
