Hunted

EDIT: former Victoria Police detective Rob Ashworth (44 years experience) had helped plan the bank heist.

This first 45 mins so far is bad. We all know that the Hunters arent going to catch all the teams together in a bank or as they drive a fair distance together in their getaway car. The Hunters though are still conveniently hot on their heels, literally hovering above them in a helicopter. It just feels like staged filler before the show starts properly.

They talked about making it more authentic, and acknowledging the game play, but it just feels like more of the same.

It needs to feel a bit more gritty and raw, feels a little too polished. Over an hour in already and not a lot has happened.

The bank scenes were… underwhelming.

A bit unnecessary, don’t you think?

10 today started a viewer competition in which you can win a share of $50,000. You will need the secret vault code shown during tonight’s episode and enter it with your details at the 10 Play website. The competition ends at midnight tonight.

The competition actually opened the other day, where you needed to have the code word already which was emailed to you after registering and then if your number came up during the episode you claimed your share of the $50k on the website.

Entries have already closed, with the site calling for people to claim their share if their codewoerd appeared.

Who would have thought that tapping the Myki card on a suburban bus would be the downfall of the father/daughter team?

Bobby and Tanisha were caught at the Stomping Ground Brewery in Collingwood on day 2, just after finishing a meal with their contacts.

I’m pretty sure contestants on this show have been court like this before.

Really poor way to start a series - spent far too long on the Heist rather than getting straight into the shows actual format.

I was almost put off the season after the gimmicky first episode but the second episode was so much better. It was much better being shorter and it actually focused completely on what the show is about. Next season (if there is another) they need to remove the pointless gimmicks. If the show wants a point of difference to promote a season then they should look at changing the location. That’s all it needs to refresh it a bit to feel less Vic/Melb centric.

This episode showed how more clued on people are in the public to Hunted contestants, with a video of one team being posted bv someone on Reddit. Something that we probably wouldn’t have seen happen in the first season.

I am also gob smacked that the same team risked getting caught by going to both a Chemist and Woolwoths just to buy fake tan! If it was an essential item it would be worth the risk but this whole fake tan thing was just silly.

I was wondering how the public knew the show was filming, and alerted the Hunters, given no contact number was given on social media.

That team would feel it was unlucky that they were separately spotted by a member of the public, and a crew working at a nearby construction site.

You could see in the episode that it was a phone filmed video posted to a Hunted page (which looked like Reddit to me). That is definitely something the hunters would easily be monitoring. I would guess that if you had watched the show that it would be pretty obvious seeing 2 people running with cameras attached to their chest, as well as a camera operator following behind. It’s just another factor that makes it a bit harder compared to the first season as more of the public would be clued onto it if they had watched it. That’s another reason why I would like them to go to another state for next season.

Would the show work with the hunters not being given the people’s bio at the beginning, they could have names only or just photos only and they have to figure out who they are based on the devices they give etc. it would be an additional challenge.

Currently they have pictures, names and a small bio and then they use the devices to get contacts and ‘cctv’ footage etc. but it would be more of a challenge if they are only given the names so they have to use the devices the contestants turned in to see who everyone is and match to ‘cctv’ etc or the other way around.

Also since they are being more transparent about this season being a game, they should tell the viewers if the ‘contacts’ have to comply with the hunters by giving them info and if they have to treat the hunters like police etc. last night the hunters basically demanded a piece of paper from a contact when it seemed like he didn’t want to give it & they entered the house after he closed the door.

I wonder if I get the premise of this show correctly, I am always on the side of those being hunted! :grinning: IMO the hunters have now got far too much of an advantage. I was extremely annoyed by the reporting of the sighting in Morrabbin last night and I get annoyed that the searchers demand info from the hunted’s associates.

I would also like to know how this is applied.

Presumably the money they stole is fake as otherwise you might as well just splash the cash and have a nice three weeks rather than wait untio you possibly win it.

I notice that in the first episode. The narrator said each team had a covert camera operator following at all times, and the CCTV footage had the tiny “imitated vision” graphic near the bottom left.

Yeah I’ve noticed this. I guess that means they are asking the contestants to imitate some scenes post-filming in order to have this footage?

Why do HQ staff wear the same clothes every episode?
MB: It’s two reasons. An investigation can take days and. So for the edit, it helps if they’re in the same clothes…… But sometimes they just spent days and trawling through social media just looking for the smallest clue. So it helps us in the edit for them to be wearing the same clothes.

Isn’t it better for them to not wear the same info so viewers know the cctv or card readers etc long take time and it’s the next day? With the edit they do now, it looks like they get the info immediately and has been a negative people have been saying on socials because it looks rigged etc

Yeah that has been my biggest issue with the show, the “simulated” government agencies appear to be providing instant access, like the myki real time tracking and live streaming cctv, I mean maybe our surveillance state has really got that good now but it just seems a little too quick and convenient to me.

Also that construction site crane operator who must have been really bored at his job to be watching, following and taking meticulous notes of the fugitive’s every move. Wouldn’t be surprised if a producer told them what was going on and to keep a lookout because someone will come later and ask what you saw

Other thing that really annoys me is the repetition after each ad break, replaying the same 30 seconds we saw before the break

This is so slow - dedicating the first half hour of this episode on what turned out to be a non-capture was a dull watch.

The withdrawal of money makes no sense in the context of them carrying $103k each. And still hare how contestants introduce themselves to strangers as “fugitives on the run” - because that’s exactly what a fugitive would say.
