House Rules

Wasn’t bad. But I really miss Joh Griggs.

Actually the first season really struggled in the ratings, particularly the beginning of the season, but 7 stuck with it and it built to a decent finale. IIRC.
It had a big following on Twitter at the time which helped I think.

It’s odd really that the show has always struggled in it’s early weeks when really the home renos are the core of the show. Seven then usually end up dragging out the final stages, not helped by reducing the number of episodes a week in the final stages.

I do wish they’d go back to basics of having 6 weeks of renos, then cut straight to the final 4 garden renos, probably keep the charity house for the final 3 and then do something more spectacular for the final - ideally each team would do a full house, perhaps each bringing back a team to assist them.

I didn’t mind the show. Jamie did well but his co-host seemed unnecessary. Not sure how the elimination of two teams before the house renovations will work though, because viewers will have started to connect with each team and some may be upset if one of their favourite teams are eliminated. So far I like the mother and son, and hopefully their renovation of the pool will work well because it’s a bloody big pool stuck in the middle of the room!

Well considering theres a walk out tonight (easy to see who that is)… assume only one team will be eliminated.

Not trying to be rude here but who is she? She’s got a great speaking voice and I assumed she must’ve been in radio before I googled her. Even then it doesn’t say too much about her, other than her wedding.

Do we know if it’s a genuine walk out or just something that’s hyped for TV and they return the next episode?

Hopefully it’s real. They are annoying.

Abbey Way - she’s involved with Seven’s coverage of the BBL/WBBL and horse racing

Thanks. This explains why I didn’t know who she was. Great voice though, but I still think Jamie could’ve handled the hosting duties quite well on his own.

As the result of Carly and Andrew quitting, the producers had tweaked this round of renovation. The couple’s rooms would be split among two other teams (Laith and George took up the master bedroom while Kayne and Aimee decided to take on the study), the extra room would be a pass or fail. If the judges deemed the room a pass, that team would get five bonus points, if it was a fail that team would get no bonus points. The team with the highest score at the end of this round would qualify for the interior renovation stage, the other six teams would have to battle it out in the next round with one team to be sent home.

They came on the show to get their house renovated. They left the show because there was a chance they might not get their house renovated. Essentially, they are walking away from a chance to have their house renovated. Nothing to lose by taking part in this new first challenge.

Another couple missed the chance to be on the show because of them.

Looking at their rooms after the fourth day it looks like they were a bit disorganised and had fallen behind.

They may be unhappy with the new format, but I think perhaps they were expecting to have a fully renovated house at the end of six weeks, rather than having two weeks where they had to prove themselves first before they went to the house renovation stage.

I guess she’ll front the pointless format points later in the competition (things like the statement pieces, bonus rooms, early reveals etc) and Jamie will just turn up at the beginning/end of the reno and for the scoring.

This show is terrible. I turned it off 10 mins in last night. I might give it another crack when they get to actually doing the homes but I’m not holding my breath for it to get better.

That GC apartment was hideous.

I notice that Seven didn’t provide a synopsis for this week’s and next week’s episodes, thus forcing viewers to tuning in each night to find out when the Gold Coast penthouse renovation would end, when the reveals would take place, and when the interior renovations of the six houses would begin.

I didn’t mind the penthouse (i would love to live there!) But they dragged out the reveals WAY too long. It took an episode and a half to reveal all the zones and the judges comments. Seriously? Thats just a joke.

I will add the synopses for next week as they have been received.

Next Tuesday is “Teams travel to Victoria to get stuck into the first homeowners’ reno tonight with Kayne and Aimee’s house first up. Will the teams be able to give them the house they have always wanted?”

Well I’m glad that couple make it through. #spoiler :stuck_out_tongue:
