Splitting up zones is still the biggest flaw in House Rules.
This year, by subtitling the show High Stakes it seems Seven are making a bigger issue of this. It really is just an excuse to start a season with as many episodes as possible featuring room reveals because these historically get more viewers. Also extends the season of course.
Well, the renovation episodes are drawn out and boring and increasingly filled with contrived drama. I found myself only watching the reveals and judging last year.
Actually didnāt mind thisā¦

Seven is up to the old trick again, showing the first five minutes of tonightās season premiere simultaneously across main channel, 7flix and 7mate (7TWO is showing Bargain Hunt from 6.30pm to 7.30pm so avoids the roadblocking). It did this last year with Australiaās Got Talent.
I think Carly is one sandwich short of a picnic. She is unbearable
This show is absolute garbage.
Jamie Durie not only took over the hosting role from Johanna Griggs, heās narrating each episode.
I donāt like the new graphics though, they are too bulky.
I love Jamie as host and his narration suits well with the dynamic of the show.
The co-host is very unnecessary as we rarely saw her throughout the show, this could change however during the course of the competition.
The graphics are nice, and thatās itā¦ Nice - nothing more, nothing less.
The teams seem ok, as always, we will get to know them in the coming weeks and will be able to decide on who we do and donāt like. The Lebanese boys are great and will add some much needed humour into the show.
Otherwise an ok start to House Rules.
The Block ripped off bits from House Rules (the scoring comes to mind) just like House Rules ripped off bits from The Block.
There was a Seven Studios end card used tonight.
I recall the first couple of seasons of HR (2013 and 2014?) rated massive, possibly thanks to MKRās Q1 lead-in when its ratings were at its peak (2m metro).
Then it fell, then it rose to well over 1m one season a few years ago, but the last couple of years have been luke-warm.
It was also seen in the recent season of My Kitchen Rules (when seen on 7plus).
Thanks for the memories but (as usual) what has that got to do with what I posted?
The sneak peek aired at the end of tonightās episode and it raised a lot of discussions on social media. It was clear which team had left, given the clip showed the other seven teams lining up on the rooftop as Jamie Durie spoke.
From the House Rules website:
Growing up in a strict Arabic speaking Palestinian household, like Laith, George specialises in building architectural custom houses for his clients
Where has Wendy gone? Disappointed to see she hasnāt returned this season.
She stood down. She is the current head of Lifestyle network on Foxtel
