Pretty crazy hey!
Great to see classic format Millionaire back on the telly! I gotta say though, it seems they dialled up the difficulty of the questions.
Would be great but it would mean giving out a lot more money which wouldnât work for an afternoon game show. And yes I agree that the Hot Seat format is tired and should be replaced.
Itâs close to 15 years, the last time the original format aired was in 2007 (they had a $5 million top prize in that short-lived edition).
Agreed. Retire the Hot Seat format, replace it with another game show and bring back the evening/regular format.
I would be happy if they have âWho wants to be a Millionaireâ at least once a week and then just replace 5pm Hot Seat with Tipping Point.
Not gonna happen. The Hot Seat replay in the afternoon outdated the special in prime time. Abysmal really.
I taped Millionaire last night and watched it this afternoon. I knew it would go overtime so I allocated two hours for the recording. The episode finished with 16 minutes to go.
Alex Dekker and Dr Kirby White were the two standouts, each walking away with $64,000.
I think there were a few straight forward questions which the contestants didnât have to use their lifelines on.
What I donât understand is that the last remaining contestant was not allowed to play even though it was a one-off special.
To be honest I donât think we can base last nights ratings on the future success of Millionaire.
Big bash wasnât that much higher and Celeb has quite an established base.
Also you have to take into account that last night was the evening before a public holiday.
Oh I agree⌠but not outrating the afternoon repeat of its cousin show? Not a good start
True. But itâs not as though itâs has months of promotion. It was a quick turn around from what I have read.
Most programs last night were around the same mark anyway, I get what youâre saying but itâs not really comparable.
During a question on which English club uses Youâll Never Walk Alone as the club anthem (the answer was Liverpool), Eddie mentioned the death of Gerry Marsden âa couple of weeks agoâ. Marsden passed away on January 3.
Yes they were only filming them the other week. Eddie was on the radio last week and they were filming the second Celeb special that week.
Yes I think they commissioned very quickly to make up for the Australian Open being postponed, which would ordinarily be on now.
Hot Seat won week 5 of the ratings - though The Chase did on air on Australia Day. However, Hot Seatâs numbers for Tuesday were on par with the rest of the week.
The first episode of Celebrity Who Wants to be a Millionaire was on tonight. Started at 9.20pm, and finished up at 10.45pm. A little too late start for a game-show like this. But i did watch it and didnt mind it overall. Three celebrities appeared tonight, and the other three will appear tomorrow night.
Samuel Johnson and his sister were the twitchiest contestants I think Iâve ever seen!!
At the end of tonightâs show, Eddie mentioned that Red Symons âcould have become the first person to win $1M on the Australian version of the showâ.
His last appearance on the show came in 2000, where he bombed out on his $500,000 question and won only $32,000.
Eddie caught up in racism controversy at his club Collingwood. Says he wonât resign early from his position. Will it affect his role on tv?
i donât think so he is successful in hot seat
Some of the most successful people have been dumped after their image is tarnished.
