Hot Seat

That’s a disgrace.

Let’s not overreact now…

It’s not an overreaction. When the commercialisation takes over the questions in the game show, that’s selling out. Game over.

I think people are misreading the joke.

I wonder if they’ll use Nine Brisbane’s Production studio?

Screen Queensland’s new facility could be vacant.

Village Roadshow Studios would be used for the Elvis biopic.

I don’t think Elvis is taking up all of Village Roadshow, The studios are massive, some of the largest outside of North America.

According to TV Blackbox, next week Nine will only show one new episode of Hot Seat on Monday, with the rest of the week scheduled with repeats.

News Corp reports 30 episodes of Hot Seat will be filmed over seven weeks in Queensland, and contestants will all be Queensland residents.

I assume a call for applications should be shown on Nine and regional affiliates across the Sunshine State soon?

Thats not many at all… like 4 a week.

I thought they’d be making a lot more than that given its been out of production for a while.

That will depend on whether the seven week period includes the construction and dismantling of the set. If so, actual filming could just be 4-5 weeks with an average of one episode per day.

Will they have to make the questions easier to answer? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

They’d have to!

Wonder if he’ll be brushing up on his knowledge of SE Qld geography, since I’ve noted that he never asks Melbourne based contestants “where is that?” (town or suburb you are from), but often does for those in other areas.

There will be no studio audience. 6 semi-trailers to bring the set alone.

Hot Seat to take a Queensland holiday

Nine’s long-running afternoon quiz show, Millionaire Hot Seat, will temporarily relocate from its Melbourne base to Queensland to film a block of 30 episodes in the Sunshine State.

The move is due to the Stage 4 COVID-19 restrictions which have been imposed on the Victorian capital.

The relocation has been made possible with the generous support of the Queensland Government, including Screen Queensland, as well as the City of Gold Coast and The Star.

Production of Millionaire Hot Seat will take place at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.

It is expected that more than $1 million will be given away across the 30 episodes, with all winnings awarded to Queensland residents.

The special episodes, showcasing the very best of Australia’s favourite holiday destination, will go to air on Nine from October.

Host of Millionaire Hot Seat, Eddie McGuire, said: “In more than 20 years of making Millionaire, this is the first time we’ve taken the show out of Melbourne. I can’t wait to experience the hospitality that Queenslanders are renowned for. And with the AFL bubble based on the Gold Coast, there’s no better place to be as we approach the pointy end of the season. I’m also looking forward to bringing all the news firsthand from the hub for Footy Classified.”

Jessica Mellor, Chief Operating Officer of The Star Gold Coast, said: “The Star has a proud track record of working with the Queensland Government to bring events to the Gold Coast. We were the first major partner of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, became the new home for the Logies, and now welcome another production from Melbourne in Millionaire Hot Seat.”

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said this was a rare opportunity for Queenslanders to win some cash while having the city showcased across the country.

“We are so blessed here in Queensland and the Gold Coast to be able to welcome TV and film productions as well as sporting teams to our city during this very tough time, he said. “When I got the call, I said immediately, ‘lock it in, Eddie’.”

A total of $81,893,000 has been given away on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Millionaire Hot Seat over the past 21 years.
