Hit Network

But can they keep the staff if the revenue is not coming in?

Personally, I despise Kyle & Jackie O regardless of what station/network their program airs on.

If the ratings were 5% or higher I could understand the “aiming for a certain demographic” argument (really, I’m sure that 18-29 females or whatever demo 2DayFM is targeted at would have to be at least 5% of the population in Sydney), but I really don’t think that SCA management would be particularly happy that 2DayFM’s overall ratings are currently around 3% and barely higher than the figures that ABC Classic FM 92.9 receive.

SCA rumoured to lure back Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O amid Rove and Sam’s ratings struggle
The Daily Telegraph

Got this email from a friend at SCA last night - posted here with permission:

“these rumours are simply planted by Sandilands to get more money from ARN in contract renewals. Do a straw poll in the office here and we’ll all tell you… no one wants him. If Blackley gets him back, I’ll walk out the door and I reckon many others will follow.”

To me this is the kind of ‘long bow/join the dots’ kind of tabloid journalism one would only expect from the Daily Tele…

I.e.:
K&Js contract will be up for renewal at some stage
Rove & Sam’s ratings aren’t good
SCA will want a high ratings show
I asked Jim in the office what he thought and said he reckons SCA would do just about anything to get their ratings up again. He said ‘I bet they’d even try to lure back K&J if they had the chance’
Call Kyle for comment. He says no comment.

Headline: SCA to lure back K&J

2DayFM - 2014 - 2016:
Merrick and company was a cluttered mess.
Dan and Maz was more suited to a Hit 30 style show.
Rove and Sam is possibly the worst ever show to grace commercial AM or FM radio in Sydney. It’s clunky and not funny.

The reason the whole Kyle story gains traction is that it appears to most people that 2DayFM do not have a plan for breakfast. They have a series of ideas that do not work. This morning poor Sam was made to say “I wish everyone would respect the privacy of the dog” when referring to the Mitchell Pearson saga. Sam is not a comedian and the line fell flat. Awful. Just awful.

And yet, you still listen.

I know I still listen. Rove and Sam are like:

  • a car crash
  • a policeman chasing someone down the street
  • the woman in Aldi with the muffin top hanging out
  • Mark Latham speaking
  • The overweight guy eating three Big Macs in the food court
  • The woman high on ice walking through David Jones in the city
  • Donald Trump on a windy day
  • Mitchell Pearson and alcohol

You know it’s bad. You know it’s not going to work out well. You know it won’t last too long. You have to look while you have the chance. It makes you cringe but you cannot look away.

who?

The NRL player who was drunk at an Australia Day celebration and did all types of lewd acts - trying to kiss a lady against her will, simulating having sex with a dog & pissing on himself. One of his ‘friends’ recorded it and sold the footage to ACA

Someone’s been watching me :hamburger::wink:

I actually know who Mitchell Pearce is, but I don’t know who “Mitchell Pearson” is…

Sorry - I did not get his name right as I am not into football.

Although with his media profile through the roof I can now see Mitchell as a possible cohost of the 2DayFM breakfast show in 2017.

Nah, that’s more Triple M.

FOX just sent out an odd survey titled “Turn It Up” it had the usual Taylor Swift songs to rate but also included 90s grunge some 80s songs and 00’s teen rock. A lot of the music would fit on Gold or MMM, bit odd unless they are looking at changing their music format more.

One thing I wish they did was add more new music, the hit music stations in Australia are always so behind and only seem to play top 20 music and don’t seem interested in breaking artists or music. Nova used to, but not anymore. and they wonder why young people flock to Triple J.

The Hit 30 are back to broadcasting between 7-10pm with the Hamish & Andy dèjå vu hour between 6-7pm.

Sounds to me like they’ve got no idea what’s going on.

Their promo also says “The Hot 30 is on all summer long” - it couldn’t be more temporary if they tried.

Yeah I heard it Monday and switched off immediately. Having Hamish and Andy on 6pm with highlights of a show that literally just aired. It’s lazy programming and they’d be better off airing Rove and Sam highlights.

Are there any though? :stuck_out_tongue:
