Hit Network

it’s always these safe formats and never something daring

100% agree. How bland.

They could’ve at least gone with, Today’s Best Music or something better than every other radio station in town.

Here’s to 104.1 GenericFM.

The positioning previously used by Gold network. And we are all aware of how overflogged it is nowadays.

That’s the most recycled slogan on the planet for the last 30 years! At least ‘Better Music and More of it’ is a more recently used positioner and well known to people.

I haven’t heard Today’s Best Music in the Sydney market for at least over 20 years.

They changed it to ‘(Enter city name) number 1 hit music station’ in 2004.

Today’s Best Music is a generic relic of the 90s and 2000s used by AC stations all over the world.

I just feel it’d work well for 2DayFM because it plays on the word ‘today’. Something other stations cannot replicate. It also stands for a slightly wider variety than CHR, and rolls of the tongue quicker and easier.

I agree. They should never lose that.

Rebuild the brand. Don’t blow it up!

“Today’s Best Variety”… Or are they still hanging on the CHR image?

‘Better Music and More of it” was used by many (many) stations back in the 80s and 90s, especially a lot of the Today stations.

and I remember both B105 Brisbane and PMFM 92.9 Perth used it too in the mid to late 90s.

If they won’t use the Heart branding, using Today’s Best Music (and more of it) - if they needed to, is a better slogan.

Yes. I think switching to Heart wouldn’t be a good idea. It would be like 2UW becoming Magic 11 in 1984 and just like magic, they lost whatever listeners they had left. Magic 11 quickly became known as Tragic 11 and only lasted four months. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Better Music And More Of It.

Ho hum. Snore. Boring. Nothing to see here. Let’s just repeat what has already been done to death.

I’ve always loved a radio station using a slogan that is new and frikken catchy:

  • Nova: Sounds Different
  • 2SM: If It Fits, Wear it
  • 2SM: Rock of the 80s
  • 2UE: When You Need to Know
  • EON: Rock of Ages
  • 4IP: Colour Radio
  • 2UE: Radio Active
  • 2UE: In Touch
  • 2UE: Where You Don’t Miss A Thing
  • 3MP: Bay City Radio
  • 2UW: Funtastic

If the decision makers in Australian radio today moved over to running our supermarkets the stores would have such bog standard slogans such as:

  • Woolworths: Better Groceries And More Of Them
  • Coles: Australia’s Best Food
  • Aldi: Just Great Groceries
  • IGA: Feel Good Food

Kill me now. Australian radio is suffering from “early onset boredom”. If only some imagination and deep thinking could be injected into the industry.

To be fair, Aldi already uses the equivalent of Nova’s ‘Sounds Different’ (ie. Good Different).

Don’t think, just Woolworths

All of the above said. I’ve had the chance to have it on a bit over the past couple of days and it’s been a good mix including some Mash Ups and Live concerts Medleys. Could be onto something here as long as they keep the playlist wide

Actually it would be Don’t Think, Just Coles as Coles Radio is owned by Nova Entertainment

Uniquely Australian. Still not nearly as widely used as Today’s Best Music, which is a generic American branding.

Talking about 80’s 2day fm did play an 80’s track today,
Like a Pray by Madonna.

I wonder if they are going to go way back to the 80’s era like before?
