All good for the move to older hits, but why does it take stations so long to react to KJ’s departure?

Nova96.9 and 2DayFM should’ve made any changes to capitalise on this weeks ago.

KJ listeners have already left the building. Too late if Nova is planning anything.

But the breakfast teams needed their 2 week break :joy:

Further changes? Both have relatively new shows. They’ve had more than enough change at Breakfast.

Playlist changes.

Nova has the closest playlist to KIIS already. 2Day had been trying a new playlist which, to be fair, deserved a crack before switching back and mimicking KIIS and Nova again.

It’d be great if Nova96.9 came out on top again post KJ.

Workday requests and songs that made the station famous at B105

In a wonderful distraction from survey day, B105‘s breakfast team Stav, Abby & Matt are winding back the clock to reflect on their collective 50 plus years with the station by playing The Hits That Made B105 Famous and taking workday requests.

From 6am tomorrow, Thursday April 23, the trio will commence celebrations then, right across the workday, take 90’s and noughties requests of all the hits that made the station a fan favourite in Brisbane.

Artists will include Madonna, Veronicas, Kylie Minogue, Powderfinger, INXS, Good Charlotte, Pink, Savage Garden, 3 Doors Down, Natasha Bedingfield, TLC and is only limited by listener’s imaginations and memories of the time.

Could this be a precursor to B105 taking on the new 2day fm format?

Oh goodie I can’t wait to go from Brisbane having 3 CHR stations to three variety stations slowly but surely

Possibly.

Could be a bit of a blocking move against 97.3’s new format, which is pretty well-received from what I read and hear.

With regional opportunities drying up for fresh talent (while it was better at sourcing local Aussie talent) it seems like the evolution for up and comers is having your podcast project picked up by an audio network like Listnr and refining the craft before picking up the usual radio survey break slots.

Lucy and Nikki sound great whenever I catch them on air occasionally, nice balance without being too intense. Sure they’ve got big things coming in the future.

Having said that sometimes SCA rushes through emerging talent too quickly. Jimmy and Nath I think needed a lot more time to mature and hone their sound before getting to Sydney breakfast. 2Day also burned through several semi decent breakfast shows with potential etc

If B105 take on the songs they’ve played so far and turn it into their new playlist they’ll have me back as a listener.

I have to laugh at the fake B105 (it was still called hit105) logo. Coincidentally, that’s the font KIIS use for their frequency in their logo.

They also used that font in the Hits and Old School era

Didn’t B105 have the “BoM” logo look too at some point, like Fox and 2Day did?

Or use one from the Hit105.3 B105 era.

Okay yeah never mind.
