Really enjoying the summer playlist B105 seem to have switched to this weekend.
Well said. Iâd agree here. More to it that theyâre not telling us.
The former.
looks like they missed the videos on the 2day fb though.
It looks like 2026 is going to bring yet another breakfast show to 2DayFM. I really hope they try something different. They need to take the hint and move away from the multi-presenter, yelling, screaming and forced laughter that has been the sound of the 11 different shows the station has aired over the last 12 years (except for Jamie Angel, who focused on the music).
Maybe find one single host who can genuinely connect with the Sydney audience without having a team of screamers in the studio with them. If the content is actually funny, entertaining and engaging, there is no need for the scripted crap we have been served up for over a decade. I feel sorry for the current and past hosts who always sounded like they had a gun held to their heads with the potential for an on-air assassination if they werenât howling with laughter for four hours each morning.
It makes for annoying radio, especially when the average punter is trying to get read for work or get to work.
I get the feeling that 2026 will simply bring more of the same when âGummy, Mando and Dickerâ start broadcasting on January 27 with a team of producers behind them forcing them to âhave fun and prove that itâs fun by screeching into the microphonesâ.
Clever calmness may just be the winner at breakfast. It can still be comedy-based but it doesnât have to sound like a frat party at 6.45am.
Completely agree. They need a single, intelligent but fun presenter with a music focus. Bring on lots of guests like Zoe Ball on BBC Radio 2. Someone like Emily Jade from Hot Tomato.
Iâd love a single female host for a breakfast show.
I was initially excited when Judith Lucy was given the 2Day brekkie shift in 2014 (as part of a team), but after the producers had finished âshapingâ her sound, poor Judith sounded like she had her speech sped up by 250%.
I think the screaming really works in the United States but less so with Australian audiences. I was listening to 2Day this morning and if I had flatmates that talked that fast and loud at 7am I would suspect they were on the ice pipe.
2004 not 2014, youâre getting old mate.
Iâll pretend it was a typo.
In reality, I still think they should bring back Ward Pally Austin to 2UW.
There is a bit chat around that SCA is going after Mel Tracina and her co-host from the Nova fill in show. But this late in the year surely everyone is locked into contracts.
Would anyone take 2Day breakfast at this point? Itâs such a poisoned chalice, thereâs no way to come out of it better than you did going in.
Could the KIIS 3pm pickup be a potential Breakfast show for 2day??
Brittney and Laura have been axed by ARN they have moved their podcast to SCA, only issue is Laura is on maternity leave.
Britney filled in for Jackie O when she was in rehab.
They would fit the 2day demo.
On a side note Would Emma team up again with Mikey???
SCA being mum about this issue as they should be.
They need something better than poaching KIIS talent, was that pick up crew even rating well?
The only duo I can see successfully altering the 2DayFM breakfast fortune is Mel Tracina and perhaps Matty from Nova if their chemistry is genuine and solid on air etc.
Or Jonesy and Amanda if they could be brought over to either MMM or 2DayFM theyâd definitely bring over a lot of their audience.
Even then, as others have pointed out, itâs a huge risk for the talent to take hosting 2DayFM Breakfast, itâs cursed!
However, I canât imagine Mel not being a winner though given sheâs now got BB and other national TV exposure under her wing, and a lot of people that casually listen to Nova will have heard her on air thanks to the networked fill in model they use.
Maybe it is finally time to let go of the 2Day heritage name. It was truly iconic when the whole network was named after it in a way, but now itâs an embarrassment to its former self.
Hit was always a poor name choice for the rebrand, it doesnât roll off the tongue, and clearly didnât get received well when they rolled it out everywhere, even hit92.9 got completely blown up and Mix is clearly still the daggy older skewing station it always was, just with hit branded identity crisis.
Heart is better, but still too generic given thereâs iHeartRadio etc it can easily jsut get lost in the mix. SCA need to reinvent the today/hit network in a way that it actually fits their varied formats before they end up like KIIS with a network that is barely a real network. Whatâs in a name I guess..
Genuinely wishing the best of luck to whoever the team next year is, theyâre certainly going to need it.
Not a bad thought, but when you look at the 25-54 numbers, itâd be a step back. Surprisingly, 2Day Breakfast has had a larger 25-54 cume than Jonesy and Amanda this year. Triple M breakfast has also outrated J&A in that demo.
Whatever SCA does, itâll have to make sense commercially by getting as many pairs of ears of 25-54s.
I think the only way a prominent talent takes up 2Day breakfast is with a total blow-up and rebrand. Ditch the heritage name since thatâs tarnished now. It wouldnât be the same bad decision as when they got rid of the SAFM branding in Adelaide for Hit107.
Judging by his Instagram Story, Tim Lee is moving to Bay 93.9.
Canât see anything on his Instagram at the moment, doesnât have a story at the moment.
I saw that too, since been deleted.
Heâll be a big loss to The Fox.
Bit of a step down to an oldies station in Geelong
