Hit Network

I actually don’t mind that. On weekends, the announcers are a little pointless at times - and these days are rarely live.

Sometimes, music is just best.

It sounds like the new 2day fm format is being rolled out on the regional Hit Network too, obviously with a different positioner. Hit 101.3 was today running the same log as 2day but a few songs ahead.

In regards to KIIS and Nova reacting to these changes, with their networking across the day it will be harder for them to respond to the programming changes in Sydney.
If the new 2day fm format gains traction Nova will be the real looser here particularly in Sydney. 2day fm has beaten them across the workdays before. Will Nova 969 break away from the rest of the network and go back to 100% Fresh Hits???

Sounds like 2Day have - pardon the pun - found their groove with this new format.
Have they sorted socials (TikTok) yet and how did their national shows outside Hot Hits flow with their new positioner?

And as for a weekend presenter - the announcer on weekends is pretty pointless, but it does act as a good training ground for the network to test presenters I guess.
One good thing radio does is it actually is a shuffle of songs unlike some other platforms - spotify

I thought all the Hit Network run the same log over the weekend.

RnB Fridays is heard across the Hit Network each Friday from 12-3pm and can be found on DAB and the LiSTNR app anytime.

Is this actually factual? Is RnB Fridays only on for 3 hours now?

I feel like this ad isn’t specific enough. It should say something about the format change. Today AF is a bit vague.

I think the ad and change in positioning/tagline is probably enough to hint at a format change, imho.

Maybe they need to also include, “the hits before they hit” in all ads. That better explains it.

Mind you, seeing the “AF” immediately only attracts/targets a certain age group. If someone can’t understand that phrase, then they probably shouldn’t be listening.

Sidenote: It’s clear the new 2DAY1041 is simply filling the void left where The Edge 96.ONE left off. This is a format CADA could’ve done better but didn’t.

while i love the attitude of “Today AF”, one has to wonder if people are gonna be complaining to the advertising standards board considering what it stands for…

hopefully not, but you never know

No.

I’ve basically been getting my music fix by playing a few selected songs on Apple Music and then letting it shuffle play song after song after song. I’ll put the actual radio on from time to time and well depending on the station eg: I can take a break from Smooth and hear the same songs in a slightly different order months later :P. So I don’t miss it that much.

Surely there have been examples in the past where ads have used the term, “WTF”.

Pretty sure ‘more music and less talk’ has been seen as an advantage for quite a while now.

I’m loving the new sound of 2Day. As for the repetition - not a problem. That’s the joy of new music. High spins for a few months then move on to the next bunch of new tracks.

I like the idea that 2Day are still appealing to 20-40 somethings, who like new music. It’s not all about the 18-24 demo. We no longer have to listen to stations like Switch and slam! (my station of choice) to get new music 24/7.

2Day are absolutely nailing it.

I pay for Apple Music and I Iove new music. If 2DayFM have no announcers, I’ll choose Apple at home as I can flick through any songs I don’t like and I don’t have to hear any ads.

A live DJ on the radio does encourage me to listen. I don’t want lots of talk but to know that a human is playing the music is a bonus. This is what radio does so well.

I feel that have three options at midday tomorrow when I do the weekly housework.

  1. Steaming music where I can skip a song and not have any ads = I love it

  2. Music on the radio with no DJ and ads - what’s the point as I paid $12 this month for Apple Music

  3. Music on the radio with ads and an engaging human = I’ll give it a go as it’s live and not just a computer pushing out music.

Can anyone do a comparison and confirm that any/all Hit regionals are also taking the new 2DAY log? Is it just on weekends? Or 24/7?

2Day taking the national log on weekends.

I don’t think they did for the weekend just gone. I didn’t hear any announcers on-air during the day. Makes me think they were local during the day to keep the new music format in place.

That’s not correct. Local log.

Interested to know. How did you go?

I’ll freely admit I’m a huge fan of DJ X on Spotify. When I go on my daily hourly run I will always crank Spotify. If I had a choice of 2DAY (which I don’t) I’d probably still choose Spotify.

Just because of the ads.

I occasionally listen to the Dance Hits (which I guess is still part of the hit network) when I’m on the treadmill (but the most I get is 20 minutes until an ad break).
