I think 2DAY1041 needs to bring back Hits & Old School if that’s the case.
In regards to the MediaWeek article, I wouldn’t say it’s the biggest since Nova969’s launch. I’d compare it to the biggest since 2DayFM went Hits & Old Skool with Dan & Maz at breakfast. The high rotation, uptempo, fun & kind of cheeky branding is what this reminds me of.
I agree regarding the current 2DAY logo. It does look more mature than the sound of the station at present. But still… they’re doing well with their “Today AF” campaign.
Am I the only one who thinks the easiest solution would’ve been for SCA to had done this 12mths ago at 2DayFM, and put Mike E & Emma at Breakfast - as most of us were suggesting right here in this forum?
Maybe SCA Management only read our posts once a year?
Regardless, I do feel Mike E & Emma would be a much better show than Jimmy & Nath with Emma on this current 2DAY1041 format.
I don’t know why the media haven’t picked up on it… the Today AF bus stop ads have been in place well prior to the actual relaunch of the station. I have seen them myself days ago.
This is where the station needs to be and should’ve been positioned years ago.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. IMO the word 2Day/today means current and present. So it only ever makes sense for the station to be a CHR/top 40 station. Leave the daggy songs for smooth and Gold.
You don’t need strong personalities - especially with K&J still in the market. Instead, you need to focus on strong music positioning - of which 2DAY1041 has just started to nail.
Please stick to your guns SCA. This is the best move the network has made since introducing Perth’s Real Alternative at Triple M Perth. Mind you, lately I’ve been hearing too many eastern Triple M tracks on 92.9 Perth. Hopefully they don’t go too generic.
You need to be different and in order to build a dedicated, loyal following.
With the right marketing, I’m sure both 2DAY1041 and Triple M Perth can succeed. But the secret here, is consistency. Don’t change formats in 3-6mths from now. If ARN can put up with a sub-standard K&J survey in Melbourne, then SCA can do the same for Sydney (and Perth).
One more thing - it’s nice to also hear a consistent sound on 2DAY once again too. No longer does Hot Hits, nights and network programming sound different to the remainder of the station. At least now, I can tune to 104.1FM and know exactly what ill expect to hear.
I completely agree! I’ve always been a huge fan of Mix, but honestly lately it feels like they have an identity crisis. I don’t like the music at all, it’s skewed too old for me so I’m starting to listen to other stations or Spotify. The sweepers and jingles badly need a refresh too!
Glad I’m not the only one. I actually really enjoyed it in 2020 with the clean (at the time) refreshed Hit branding but they freaked out and went straight back to their corny worn out pre 2020 format.
It sounded fresh, the announcers did great to slightly alter their tone without sounding to HOW DO U DO FELLOW KIDS! And it just sounded good for the time.
I realllly love that ReelWorld package, but they need to update it though after 5-6 years. The original “94.fivvvee” versions sounded better than the “this is mixxx” variants which sound like a mock.
This just sounds like Apple Music but without the chance to forward to the next song.
No local DJs on the radio is bad enough but not even a networked DJ from interstate? This has been happening for years but now it’s highlighted as an advantage.
