Spreading of resources = networked content
That would actually be the opposite - centralisation of resources.
I donât think anyone can complain about networking here - theyâve replaced 1 show with 6.
Em and Harley start on 2Day FM Breakfast in 4 days but apart from listening to the station how would you know? Theyâve done it again. People canât listen if they donât know the show exists. Em should have been doing shifts in daytime this week, getting out there and telling the world sheâs coming! 2Day FM are in for another shocking year and itâs their own fault. They are so good in basically every other aspect but Breakfast. They are letting themselves down.
Theyâve been plugging the show constantly on Facebook the last week.
Only if you follow 2Day FMâŚ
I donât think that 2DayFM (initially at least) having their breakfast show presented out of Melbourne is going to do them many favours eitherâŚ
Thatâs irrelevant. The average listener would have no idea that they are in Melbourne.
âŚuntil the rival stations (especially KIIS with their âSo Sydneyâ slogan) heavily promote the fact that their breakfast show is presented from Sydney unlike 2DayFMâs.
How does SCA plan to get Em & Harley connecting with a Sydney audience when theyâre broadcasting from Melbourne? Social media can only go so far.
When do rival stations ever promote the fact other stations are not doing something they are?
What sort of localism exists in ANY breakfast show outside slogans which may mention the city?
Exactly. I NEVER hear Kyle and Jackie O or Fitzy and Wippa say âdid anyone go to Macquarie Centreâs blah blah blahâ or âMt Druitt Public School has there fete on this weekendâ.
Silly argument.
Well if localism doesnât matter, then why do the stations not run networked breakfast shows?
with one host constantly in LA? Doubt they can take the high moral ground with that
Listening to FOX FM, live from the Aus Open - itâs clear they are Melbourne live 6am-4pm. And itâs clear Nova 100 isnât, despite the hosts saying âMelbourneâ over and over. Thereâs no connection like there was with local jocks who would be taking lots of calls all day. It must be time consuming to do two shows at once for the Sydney jocks. It doesnât work for a lively hit music station, Nova should reverse the changes.
Donât give them ideas.
Em and Harley took to the streets of Sydney to find o-- oh.
No, but itâs things like
âYou know when you go to the shopping centre - like out at Parramatta theyâve got this thing whereâŚâ
Whilst generally Melbourne and Sydney are very similar, there are many minor differences that you donât really think of, and are very quick ways to make you sound foreign.
Even things like pronunciations, traffic (when the trafficâs just rooted and that can be a content bit), even major stories that you donât realise are major Sydney stories until later in the day. Doing a bit on AFL without realising the majority of Sydney donât care about AFL etc.
It either means you sound foreign, or you start to limit yourself on the types of content you can do.
It can be done, and certainly if the guys are willing to immerse themselves in Sydney like they live there, it can work.
But it has the potential to sound foreign, and thatâs not what you want from a new breakfast show. I personally think you want some localism from a breakfast show, where a drive show can be a bi more general/national
What sort of localism did Rove and Sam immerse themselves them in last year?
Not that anyone much would have heard it.
Em and Harley are going to be commuting to Sydney, which means that a lot of the time they will be in Sydney. Sure they will be in Melbourne regularly, but they will be broadcasting from Sydney and having face to face meetings with production staff in Sydney as well.
Realistically local knowledge of place names and streets would be no different if they moved to Sydney now as newcomers anyway. Plus Iâm pretty sure Em has spent some time in Sydney so would know some of that already.
