Hit Network

It would be all about the $$$ and whether SCA would risk the investment

i mean it paid off in Melbourne/GOLD104.3 with importing Christian O’Connell, but then again, 2Day/Sydney is quite a different market

Melb Radio Wars suggested Ronan for Syd/Mel networked breakfast on Smooth, but then again, they did suggest Chrissie Swan not long ago too.

A great idea. Sydney needs its own Christian O’Connell type show and a female version on 2Day would be great.

As for Mitch Churi, he’d be good for Hit Nights IMO. SCA need to pick him up.

They have Mike E & Emma already.

And the recent move to put them on Nights & Weekend Breakfast is a decision that means they’re further from 2DayFM Breakfast.

Keeping them 9am-11am weekdays would’ve made it an easier transition into 6-9am weekdays in 2025.

The elephant in the room, is regardless if it’s Jimmy & Nath or Mike E & Emma, we can all agree that the current music format is a little dated/older than those who likely listen to these shows. For either to be locked in at Breakfast in 2025, 2DayFM will need to stop focusing on older hits.

Alternatively if they went with a solo female breakfast presenter like Zoe Ball the current music would be perfect.

What’s the obsession with installing another British presenter?

I wasn’t saying Zoe, but someone LIKE her. If there was in fact an Australian equivalent.

i still think EDM/Urban route, with Mike E and Emma for brekky, and now try and get Churi for nights

And Jimmy & Nath?

they’d be better for drive than carrie and tommy imo

when they stepped in for one of the survey breaks last year for drive, they were good!

An EDM 2DayFM would sound HOT compared to the safe internationally radio-friendly dross being regurgitated by the competition.

When they used to have “Two Day Dance” (I recall them not pronouncing it “Today Dance”), that was cool.

Not sure if a 24/7 EDM 2DayFM would do well. But I’d 10000% bring back shows like Party Hard every Friday & Saturday night.

Easy duopoly strategy based on 25-54s:

Give 2Day a rhythmic playlist (filling the void left by The Edge) anchored by Mike E & Emma in breakfast. Lean into ‘feel good’ RnB/urban tracks with a strong pop flavour (i.e. you need to still play Taylor Swift). Make KIIS and Nova sound tired and stale.

Return 2MMM to its roots - rock, sport and comedy. The best rock from 80s to now - without being afraid of anything released after 1988 - and stop trying to compete with WSFM. Jimmy and Nath in breakfast, keep Tarsh and add back in some strong sports contributors (… I would’ve said MG but that seems to be on the rocks. Bring back Candace Warner?). Double down on Sydney and be a bit cheeky.

I’m sorry but a major network need to pick uo Mitch Churi. He could and would be better on 2Day breakfast and nights. Think about it this way - you want to make up cume and share with a new show with listeners testing it out. Mitch js the highest profile Syd talent in KIIS outside KJ show. He WOULD bring KIIS share to 2Day. This is a big chance for them to get ahead. Not to mention he would be way better than Mikey and Emma at nights no argument.

Do they though?

Love your passion and optimism. It’s always fun to move the chess pieces around.

Would you have Mitch solo or would you be wanting to team him up with someone in particular? In this scenario, what would you then do with Jimmy and Nath, as well as Mike E and Emma?

The Melbourne Radio Wars podcast suggested Mitch and Mel Tracina as a future breakfast show.

Craig Bruce is clearly part of the problem with Australian radio. Thinking they should ignore any potential audience under 35 as non-existent and just accepting networking is the future despite the evidence to the contrary. Do costs need to be cut? Yes. Does that mean networking breakfast? No.

People with his attitude will expedite the death of radio like in the US.
