I dunno. The Advertiser in Adelaide seem to scrap the bottom of the barrel from Reddit posts for their news articles… Anything is possible. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Can confirm 2day is Jules Lund and Mel B? It just goes back to the start now?

I suppose there is no one left.

Judith Lucy and Wendy Harmer must have said “pass”.

At least this means that Rove has a job lined up for 2026.

I mean is there really a difference between them and the Daily Mail these days

Can I guess Loren Barry might be attached to one of these shows?

I can tell you she won’t be. Her future within SCA is being worked through.

I am curious - did Loren opt to leave Marty or was the decision made for her?

Sounds like she was shafted for it to be more blokey.

Loren and SCA aren’t on good terms at present. I doubt she will be part of SCA going forward which is a pity as I think she’s an absolute gun.

Jeez that’s shitty to here and I’m very surprised

No, but mrworldwide accuses anybody who likes Mitch as being him. Crazy that maybe some members of the industry like him?

I AM NOT MITCH, BUT I HAPPEN TO LOVE HIM AND RESIDE AT HIS HOUSE AND OCCUPY HIS BRAIN/BODY AND I THINK HE SHOULD BE CEO OF ARN AND DAYTIME ANNOUNCER ACROSS THE ENTIRE GOLD AND KIIS NETWORKS!!! /sarcasm

I think we can establish there are some people here showing support for Mitch, that are themselves not Mitch. We can give it a rest now lol.

However, I have seen what mrworldwide is referring to though over the years. Strange accounts popping up out of the blue to offer specific commentary. Not sure that is the case here though.

In a completely noncreepy way, I was thinking about your comment this morning when I was reading Tim Burrows’ Unmade newsletter. He had a piece in it called ‘Is radio’s audience really ageing?’

Seems like your criticism of Craig’s ‘age’ attitute towards radio was absolutely spot on. Tim looked over the ratings data and came to the conclusion that:

“According to the data the industry trades on, young people are listening to radio in greater numbers than ever before. And proportionally, the average share of listening among the 10-17 and 18-24 age demographic has gone up.”

Clearly this is my own sock puppet account.

I didn’t even know about this data, but what I did know was that if you start acting like an audience is unattainable you write your own obituary and sometimes folks like CB need a wake up call or perhaps open that door to another industry or retirement and let in a new guard that is actively chasing audience, not chasing them away.

I agree with this and it applies to television as much as radio. Both industries seem to have given up on attracting younger audiences rather than making every effort to attract them.

Craig Bruce has pretty much spent the whole year making a goose of himself on that Radio Wars podcast, starting with his original declaration that his beloved K&J Show was going to dominate Melb Radio ratings.

He does seem rather out of the loop. He is good with some catchphrases (double-click) and talking about what’s happening in Canada and the U.S. but he seems to think that’s inevitable in Australia, despite the fact that US radio has been going down that road for 20 years now.

It’s a much different market, even UK radio is much healthier than over there. He uses too many buzzwords, and spouting a few female pop artist names, but it’s all rather vague. I find Irene much more knowledgeable and on the ball.

I respect his history, but I feel like he’s off pace with the current local market.

Yes. Both radio and television are in a healthier state in Britain compared to America and Canada. Australia should be looking to Britain more than America.

I’m starting to think that television and radio programmers have written off younger listeners (say under 35) because they largely don’t understand how they consume and can’t be bothered trying to find out. Even the most cursory of glances at ratings numbers would show that there is still a decent (and often consistent) level of listenership in the lower demos.

I wouldn’t go all out at trying to go all in on these demos, but its worth thinking about options to skew younger to be more welcoming to them.
