Marty Sheargold mentions it. It’s easy to tell from the INstagram page which days Hughesy is in SYdney.
Mix94.5 is now starting RnB Fridays at 8am. Any other stations doing this?
That not much of a “mix” of music.
I was forced to listen to RnB Friday on Hit in Coffs Harbour once as I drove through the area. I needed counselling by the time I reached Taree. Why were the great people of Coffs being punished like this? What had they done wrong?
At least the playlist is different each week and hasn’t been the same shit for 7 years.
Oh.
The Awesome 80s on Triple M would have been my choice, though its the same stuff pretty much every Friday too these days.
CHY FM in Coffs is a good listen. And so is Triple B at Bellingen which has good coverage on 93.3 most of the way down to Port Macquarie.
And 2RE Taree in the afternoons is a great choice. 2BOB plays good music too at times and then you start to get into Great Lakes FM territory.
If not your cup of tea, streaming or CDs would be the go.
Interesting article
Lol. The “fast pass” bit is gold. Too obvious.
Let’s not forget The Fox’s current show (give or take a few announcers) came about shortly after 2DayFM “moved on” K&J. Matt & Jo had a similar exit.
I wonder what their results would’ve been if K&J were to be up against Matt & Jo - who would’ve had very similar heritage to K&J by now.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, a radio insider said: 'Everyone welcomes competition but Fox have become the laughing stock of the industry by just directly copying every single tactic from KIIS.
Said source has just outed themselves as an ARN employee. No one in the industry genuinely thinks that Fox are copying KIIS here.
I’d suggest it’s tongue-in-cheek on a graphic designer/kid with Photoshop’s part given that KIIS have emulated everything Fox is doing, right up to nicking their positioner.
Is it the right strategy? I’m not too sold on it, personally - Nova are doing a much better job at standing alone, and the few times the KIIS situation has come up as part of Jase & Lauren’s show/podcast it feels a lot more genuine.
Yes, that Fox graphic is a fake made to look the same as KIIS’s. This is the actually Fox graphic.
So let me get my head across this: Fox deliberately created a fake graphic with its own branding on it, posted from its own account?

My mistake, I didn’t see that when I went searching. That really is quite the smoking gun isn’t it.
It doesn’t really make sense to me. It’s just blatant plagiarism when it’s taken to that level. It literally looks like the same template was used when place side by side. If you’re going to run a similar promo to your competitor (and they wouldn’t be the first station to do that) you at least need to try to make it somewhat different if not better.
KIIS will say theirs is better… $50,000 better
What was the turn around between Fox announcing the bus and it showing up fully branded? It would take a bit of behind the scenes prep to get it done, and the only thing mentioned I think could be a coincidence.
If it works, it works. But it gives desperation from Fox to be blantantly copying Kiis. They could have at least called the fast pass the “Queue jump” like ZM in NZ has been doing for the last couple years in their version of the secret sound
The bus was literally just a few hours, but apart from featuring in the TV ad, I haven’t seen any evidence that the bus is part of any wider strategy or even exists outside the ad. The promo shot of it they used had FFN wearing the same clothes as in the ad, so I suspect it was just a photo taken the day they filmed the ad.
In terms of turn around, there’s big teams at both stations so I wouldn’t be surprised if there are leaks between the stations which would help have things prepared in advance.
Correct my understanding that it was only used in the ad. Purely a coincidence in timings?
Coincidence on the bus. Maybe.
Timing. I don’t think so. I think it was a reactive measure to post the photo of FFN with the bus that day. It was a few weeks before the tv ad was announced.
Kat Markey 12-3pm announcer on Fox FM has resigned leaving in a couple of months, returning back to Perth.
A great talent. Hopefully we hear her back on the airwaves in Perth.
