Hit Network

With all the recent hype around Taylor Swift’s upcoming tour, 2DayFM have finally launched their own Swiftie & Fifty tactic (if you can recall they were the only station not to take part in it when the other Hit Network stations ran it around the country). A clever move by 2Day (or 2-Tay as they referred to themselves), except they should’ve done it a few weeks ago when KIIS et al were all over Taylor Swift tickets.

Jimmy & Nath returned from holidays tonight after 8 weeks away from the shift (including filling in for Carrie & Tommy). Seany B hosted nights throughout the period.

No mention of Abbie Chatfield.

Abbie Chatfield has quit radio on her own terms. Her last show is tonight.

Thank god. The show was terrible.

Jumped before she was pushed. I’m surprised it lasted this long.

I wouldn’t be surprised if she ended up on breakfast radio next year.

I love Abbie, but agree that show wasn’t great. Especially on stations like Mix94.5 Perth, it felt completely out of format. I hope they just keep some music on Hit Nights or a music based show. I’d rather that then nonstop talk shows.

I reckon she’ll pop up on KIIS sometime soon.

That video felt so… snooty?

As she said, she felt it was a little too much of her, so fair call there. Just another bad move by SCA.

I always feel that anyone who needs to over-explain their decision making, there’s usually another reason behind it.

Ok - moving on - who’ll be replacing her? Jimmy & Nath?

Or will SCA head in a different direction for nighttime radio?

Wouldn’t surprise me if they just keep Jimmy and Nath as they’d essentially become co-hosts with Abbie. It’ll just be Jimmy and Nath at night rather than late night.

Newscorp has run a story ‘Breaking News’ she resigns. Breaking news? Say what?

Unlikely. Abbie is staying with LiSTNR for podcasts.

Last night Pete, Matt and Kymba took over drive in Perth, and broadcasted live at the Wembley Hotel before the Matildas semi-final.

Not a great result, but the broadcast still shows the amount of attention womens football has had from the Australian public

Amazing they didn’t just get Carrie & Tommy to broadcast from a Sydney venue around the country.

Especially since it’s already moved from Nova to Listnr.

SCA Statement

ABBIE CHATFIELD TO STEP DOWN FROM HIT NETWORK’S NATIONAL HOT NIGHTS WITH ABBIE CHATFIELD SHOW

After 18 months in the hot seat, Abbie Chatfield and the Hit Network have announced that Abbie will step down as host of Hot Nights with Abbie Chatfield, across the Hit Network.

Chatfield joined the Hit Network’s evening show in January 2022 and has since been joined by Hit’s Jimmy & Nath on the show. During her time on the show, Chatfield championed Aussie musicians with the ‘Australian Made’ segment on Hot Nights, with live interviews and performances from Peking Duk, Sycco, Lucy Lucy, Mia Wray, Tuppaware Party, Betty Taylor, and Hope D among others.

Chatfield will remain with SCA and concentrate on her successful podcast, It’s A Lot with Abbie Chatfield on LiSTNR, which attracted more than 220,000 listeners and jumped four places on the All Australian Podcast Ranker in July.

Commenting on her decision, Chatfield said: “I’ve made the difficult decision to move away from radio for now. I have decided I want my focus to be on my podcast, It’s A Lot and other television opportunities rather than remaining on air in a daily capacity on Hot Nights. I am looking forward to continuing my relationship with LiSTNR into the future.”

SCA Chief Content Officer, Dave Cameron, said: “For personal reasons, Abbie Chatfield has made the decision to step away from Hot Nights, her national radio show on the Hit Network. Abbie’s last show will be today.

“We are pleased to say that Abbie will remain with SCA, and we look forward to continuing to support the ongoing growth of her extraordinarily successful podcast, It’s a Lot with Abbie Chatfield, published on LiSTNR.”

An announcement regarding the Hit Network’s evening show will be made soon.
