When Fev first revealed the world record attempt on air two weeks ago, Fifi was very reluctant to do it.

Yes, expecting they would’ve aired as normal.

Live studio camera continues throughout non-talking segments, with copyright-free music over the top. I notice they don’t necessarily stay in the studio the whole time.

They were saying they are allowed to bank some 5-min break times according to official Guinness world record requirements.

Then they’ll take those 5-min break times in a big chunk in the middle of the night to have a shower and powernap.

Jase and PJ on Kiis Melbourne did a 56 hour broadcast.

27 hours seems like nothing compared to KIIS’s effort.

Fifi, Fev & Nick broke the Guinness World Record.
And are currently playing Tina Turner’s Simply The Best

How? Jase and PJ did it much longer. I just don’t understand this.

Wasn’t an official record though.

Well that was dumb.

For a start, there are separate records for solos, pairs, and “teams” of three or more, and the rules would be different for each. For instance, a solo DJ would be allowed larger breaks than a team would - both per hour, and also between songs.

[Unfortunately the details on the rules tend to only be given to them if you seriously apply, although they would’ve had a rep on at the start to explain the rules. The ability to “bank” their breaks seems a bit odd.]

AFAIK there was no set “teams” record up to this point for music shows (there is one for a talk show, which lasted 66 hours), presumably GWR (because it’s a money-maker for them to licence their name) would have taken any proposal from 24 hours up.

It’ll get beaten pretty quickly, I can presume - depending on how many radio stations even bother with three people in their morning/drive zoo anymore, haha. I think the pairs music record is four and a bit days now.

Guinness world record holders for longest marathon for a radio music show dj (team)

Am I the only one that finds the whole thing incredibly boring? Who cares? It’s like a stunt from the 70s. Actually the 70s weren’t that lame.

Wait… Wait… Can somebody please explain again how The Fox’s show is a World Record when other shows have lasted longer?

Jase & PJ were a ‘team’ as well, which is why I too am confused.

So… was Jase & PJ’s attempt not officially recorded??

EDIT: I can see on the RadioToday article it is for “Longest Marathon For A Radio Music Show DJ (Team)”.

There must be something in that…

Single announcer
Duo
Team

When you put it that way, it makes Jase & PJ’s attempt even more remarkable. For a “duo” to do 56 hours, surely a “team” could all chip-in and do a longer broadcast.

… But why spoil a good headline …

That and the Guinness World Records is a scam akin to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Just because you can’t afford the fee for the ceremony
