No sign of 2GAY FM this year?

Was Tommy even there?

I wasn’t there so it’s second hand but I’m told the dynamic of the team as a whole didn’t work out.

Sometimes things just happen. I guess this was one of those occasions.

I guess they went nationwide with the promo and sponsorship this year.

I’ve heard that too. They were good friends and worked well in Melbourne on drive, but when they moved to Sydney the change of life and pressure was intense. They were no longer given the space to be themselves and a few of the team, including Maz just couldn’t cope.
Maz has openly said since that she started drinking far too much and basically had a breakdown.

In addition to her appearance on Nova’s Red Room, Rita Ora is co-hosting Ash London Live this week until Thursday.

Andrew Hornery is reporting in his SMH “Private Sydney” column that Dave Hughes is struggling to find a Sydney property to buy and move his family into. The column states Hughes has an assurance from Grant Blackley that he’ll give the 2Day FM breakfast show time to hit its stride and “knock Kyle Sandilands off his perch”. Will be interesting to see if Blackley is still holding his nerve at the end of the year if ratings don’t budge.

Fair enough for Grant Blackley to hope The Morning Crew improves against Nova & KIIS in the key demographics. But to say it’ll eventually knock Kyle Sandilands off his perch is a rather bold claim!

Survey #1 was a slightly positive step in the right direction, with The Morning Crew up 0.2% on the ratings Music For Breakfast with Jamie Angel received during its final survey.

However, it probably won’t be until at least mid-year before any definite trends begin to emerge.

We’ve said that before…

It’s about time someone got that chance. Em and Harley almost did but Harley quit and Em had a nervous breakdown not long after.

Hit Network appear to have launched a new TV commercial. Pretty basic (likely they don’t have a massive marketing budget at the moment), but it gets the point across and, I think, it’s pretty catchy/fun.

FOX Melbourne
B105 Brisbane
SAFM Adelaide
MIX94.5 Perth
HIT100.9 Hobart
HIT106.9 Newcastle
HIT90.9 Gold Coast
HIT WA (no breakfast team, only Carrie & Tommy)
HIT103.1 Townsville (with Cliffo & Gabi)
HIT101.3 Central Coast (with Gawndy & Maz)
HIT VIC (with Tim & Jess)
HIT Network (generic with Carrie & Tommy)
I’ve also found them for South QLD, Central QLD, Sunraysia, The Border, Mid North Coast, Riverina, Central West, Coffs Coast and a couple of others.

Nothing for 2DAY or HIT104.7 Canberra though.

Hit WA with no breakfast team is interesting given they’re Perth based.

I can understand why Hit 104.7 Canberra don’t have one because they’re yet to adopt the current network branding, but I would’ve thought 2DayFM would be quite eager to promote their current breakfast show with a TVC.

Then again, ARN seem to have a TVC for WSFM that is still yet to be released. Maybe we’ll start seeing things from both stations post-Easter.

Yes, I’m very surprised too.

The most logical reason for having no 2Day TVC would simply be trying to get all three hosts in the same location. Clearly Hughesy hasn’t moved to Sydney yet like he was reported to be doing, and Ed is (from memory) still working between Sydney and Melbourne.

True, although the ads are generic enough that they could just film them dancing for 2 seconds, wherever they are, and insert it into the ad.

Undoubtedly you could make it work, it’s such a cheap (in every sense of the word) and cheerful campaign.

Unless there’s an issue with Erin Molan also being Channel 9 talent?

Yeah, nothing really to write home about.

Audio wise it would’ve been better if a cut from the on-air jingle package was used IMO.

If that were the case, couldn’t 2DayFM take the Hit Regional WA direction and just promote Carrie & Tommy?

Surprised it’s taken this long for people here to notice. These ads (Hit and MMM) have been running since early February here in Newcastle.

They only debuted in other places (WA, SA, regional) yesterday.
