Hit Network

Makes sense. Poor timing for Perth with references to him being in Brisbane on the first day of the new branding.

Both the Hit and Triple M websites have been updated to only show their respective stations in Perth (Hit/Mix, Triple M/92.9).

The slightly different format for Perth’s name is gonna kill my OCD. It should be “Triple M Perth 92.9”. Oh, and the Perth logo is smaller than the rest. :persevere:

Mix just played the new jingle. I’m surprised they didn’t go with “This is Miiiiiiiiix”. They went with “Mix 94.fiiiiiiiiiiive” instead.

Do Mix 94.5 still have the same workday announcers as before or have the old Hit 92.9 workday announcers made the switch to Mix?

Same workday announcers. Tim Lordan and Elissa MacNeall. Aside from the new packaging, and the occasional “hotter” song, the station sounds pretty similar. I like it.

Duke Dumont on now. It’s going to be a weird transition to Hit.

Mix have only played it about 1,400 more times previously (at least according to Lava)

Haha well shows you how often I listen to mix!

The real travesty there is how many times 96FM managed to spin it after ARN first started tinkering with the music format.

It does make me wonder what sort of team they have there at SCA. I work in a comms area with a small team of graphic designers and even with those minor issues (eg different font size) that wouldn’t have seen the light of day with my team.

Yeah, I’m not sure. There is a few other issues too. The new Mix logo is slightly brighter than the others. Plus, when you go down to the list of stations in each state, you have the same issue with the naming of 92.9 Triple M in Perth. And the legacy Hit stations for each state are at the top of each list, except for Mix 94.5, which is buried in the middle of a bunch of regional hit stations. :man_facepalming:t3:

Overall I must say I quite like the Hit logo and branding, but the Triple M one looks old and in need of a refresh.

Ooooh, that was jarring. Mix 94.5 is still playing the old Guns N Roses promo (voiced by Sideshow, who does most of the Triple M stuff). It didn’t sound right. I must say, they haven’t really done too much to the playlist. If anything, songs like Bon Jovi’s Bad Medicine sound out of place on Mix (especially next to new stuff). I worry they are trying to be something to everyone, which is where 96FM went wrong a few years back.

Still a bit of crossover. Hopefully they move a bit closer to other Hit stations in 2021 once the new breakfast show starts.

2Day FM a while ago played a 80’s song - Love Shack by The B-52’s.

It reached number 1 in the charts in Australia in 1990.

I’ve been listening to Mix most of the day. I feel a bit like I’m a ping pong ball if I’m quite honest. I also feel like there’s been heaps of announcer chat. More than some other channels. Not sure if that was the norm of late for them?

I heard it on Fox once. Beat It by MJ played once as well I believe,

I agree about the music being quite jarring on Mix 94.5, obviously they don’t want to adopt the old Hit 92.9 playlist that did not rate well. My guess is the music will continue to be all over the shop and even more so on R&B Friday’s

Most of Hit 92.9 listeners will go to Nova 937 so my guess is Nova will be back at #1 in survey 1. 96fm will loose some listeners to Triple M and Mix 94.5 will suffer the greatest going to Triple M / 96Fm.

Long term I see Mix 94.5 going to a hit music format similar to Fox / B105, to compete with Nova, and Triple M to compete purely with 96fm. Mix could become the lowest rating Fm station like Hit 92.9 was.
