I’m not in Sydney, but who’d the fuck know as it’s branded as ‘music for breakfast’ and god knows there’s even a jock there. It’s not done properly.

Yes agree entirely. Admittedly I’ve never listened to the current breakfast show, but if you want just music you would listen to Spotify. As you mention Tim Blackwell would do good. Smallzy or Ash London’s programs would both do okay IMO if they were hypothetically to be the next 2Day breakfast (with a few tweaks). Unfortunately they are probably both the least likely to get tapped on the shoulder.

His name is listed on the second line. Wasn’t that hard to find. But point taken.

It’s not just 2Day’s breakfast show. All of SCA’s websites are awful.
Also, why on earth do they have catch-up podcasts for “Music For Breakfast”?

Because they are podcasts of interviews done during the show. Like I said, it’s not just music. They have interviews, callers and competitions too.

If you’re having to explain it, it’s not being promoted or marketed properly. I follow radio fairly closely, and I just assumed it was actually just music with some links like 2UE.

I’m totally hearing you and I agree. I was just clarifying that the show is more than what it says it is.
They need a proper personality lead show in there because they need to start thinking long term game. Kyle, Jackie, Fitzy and Wippa won’t be there forever. If 2Day put a cheap team in there build it up then eventually the others will leave and the space will be free for 2Day’s show which has been there for years. They should have kept Dan and Maz. Simple as that.

Exactly. If they are doing interviews and chucking personality in there, why don’t they just call it Jamie Angel For Breakfast? It’s ironic that SCA aren’t promoting their talent enough - certainly a change from previous breakfast shows.
Absolutely. It has been posted here a few times that the show was unlikely to continue even if management wanted it too, but if we leave behind-the-scenes troubles aside, Dan & Maz were the best they put on and SCA should have put all their effort into keeping them.

Agreed. For the first six 2DayFM breakfast presenting teams since 2014, there were billboards and TV ads galore. At least some effort was made to try and get Sydneysiders interested in these shows.
Music For Breakfast with Jamie Angel has received nothing of the sort (even though he’d been on air for 6-7 months before the pandemic), as far as I’m aware.

I’m honestly not convinced that a new 2DayFM breakfast show can even do any serious damage to the ratings of Fitzy & Wippa or Bogart & Glenn, let alone snap at the heels of Jonesy & Amanda or Kyle & Jackie O.
It’s probably going to take the departure of at least one (if not two) of those top four Sydney FM brekky shows before 2DayFM again gets a chance to mount a serious challenge for #1 spot.
In the meantime, the station needs a breakfast show with personalities that suit the station’s target demographic. Exactly who they are, I’m not quite sure - but presenters who are genuinely passionate about radio (instead of washed up TV personalities/celebrities hoping for another short term media profile boost that SCA typically go for) would be preferable.

They need to think outside the box and gain some buzz around any new breakfast show. I’m thinking Dame Edna Everage. “Morning possums”
I’m only half joking too. They need some big names to attract attention. Kylie Minogue seems to always be a guest on the BBC Radio 2 breakfast show. Maybe they could get some big name guests and do a ‘desert island discs’ type of show where a big name drops in for a chat and plays their favourite tunes. It has to be live though. The voice tracked guests like they have on Smooth just fall very flat.

I still think Gawndy and Maz is the best option at the moment. They’re already going out to all of NSW so it’s not like the content will be Central Coast specific.

Considering out of all the regional shows axed in NSW that this show was the one chosen to remain and be syndicated, it must be doing alright.
