As Carnarvon was doing? News from SCA Perth and programming for a time from somewhere external?
Or was that Geraldton way back that had a DX’ing set up to receive a Perth FM which drifted in and out when atmospherics were against it?
Shows you how cut price the shoots are, no budget for proper direction and certainly none for wardrobe. They’d do well to learn from TV news promos where it’s all researched to an inch of each garment.
You’ve gotta remember the archetypal Aussie bloke in radio, they don’t get fashion mostly. Their idea of fashion is being given promo shirts etc for the station. You won’t see most of them at Country Road, Scotch & Soda, Ralph Lauren or even cut price Connor.
Ok, that’s it for me today, I’m still 200 posts away from getting up to date with the thread.
But that’s why you have a promo department. You never see the KIIS on-air talent looking like a bunch of dropkick bogans (even if some of them are cashed up bogans in real life ).
It’s boring that’s for sure. Was absolutely nothing wrong with what they had. Now they look like smooth fm. It’s like they have given up fighting against the streaming company’s like Spotify. I think you’ll find that once the pandemic is over and advertising dollars return to normal they will change direction again.
No it was cool and contemporary, for that time. The Hit name was and still is the weakness. That’s why they’ve mostly dropped it and gone back to old brands like 2Day, B105 etc.
Agree. The previous pink & teal logo was perfect had the entire network rebranded to Hit and remained playing “hit music”. It was initially launched with the tagline, “Move To It” prior to the launch of “Hits & Old Skool”.
IMO I would’ve stayed with CHR/Top 40 rather than play 70s and 80s like it does today.
Agree. As much as I loved the old dotted logo the hit logo was a nice refresh and really set it apart from the rest, same with the slogons they used and the playlist. Now it’s a little dull all because people are staying at home more during the pandemic and having to appeal to a probably more diverse audience.
If you want KIX, why not FM 104.7 for it? Why bother with a brand with no heritage or value in Canberra?
The 80 year old brands of 4GR, 2WG, 3BO et al are still valuable in their markets and either SCA will admit their mistakes or beyond acquisition or receivership; new owners with mercifully new management (SCA must have the highest per capita amount of nuclear holocaust cockroaches for middle management who have hung on through all regimes, quite the mutual protection racket) will correct past errors and reinstate these profit generating brands.
I noticed last night while listening to Hit Buddha that they now sometimes refer to it on air as “Hit Buddha Melbourne”. Seems like the change from “Fox Buddha” is somewhat pointless if they are still localising the on air branding.
They also referred to it as “2day Buddha Chillout Sessions” (not the first time I’ve heard them incorrectly refer it as this)
I get what you’re saying, less local content is hardly a selling point, but they are hardly lacking in content as a business and need to try to monetize the content they do have better to ensure they survive.
Nice to see that Hit Oldskool finally updated their program schedule on the app, up until recently they still had 90’s mania listed between 9 & 10am, even though 90’s mania hasn’t been on for months now.
