Hit Network

It’s the same for the 2Day DAB stations.

It’s odd that they’ve gone for a localised branding strategy on FM, but done the opposite on DAB.

DAB stations are probably on a much lower budget, dont want to do 5 versions of each promo

Correct! Think about it, they have 5 digital stations (not including Little Fox, which is exclusive to Melbourne). If they did a promo for each of those, branded as “Hit”, they only need to make 5 promos. If they suddenly decide to name them as an extension of the legacy brands, they’d need to make 25 promos. Much less work, plus it’s a way of still getting the “Hit Network” branding out there. The stations are still part of the network, despite the rebranding to legacy brand names.

I have noticed that too… I stream Fox Dance… well “Hit Dance” all day…

Most of the time the sweeper would cut in and say “Fox Dance, move to it” and then play the next song… Hearing more and more it now says “Hit Dance”

Have you also noticed… If you listen to Fox/Hit Dance, that the ads have been glitchy as the last few days… You always get a couple seconds of one ad then it will cut into another one… it has been doing it a lot. Or a couple seconds of a news bulletin and then cut into an ad, then sweeper then a song.

Yep, this was the station I streamed when I noticed it. Heard it on Buddah as well.
(Might I add, Fox Dance sounds much better than Hit Dance)

Triple M 90s at least still references Melbourne in their promos despite the common name - is there any of that on the Hit side?

Same thing is happening when I listen to any of the hit multichannels on the hit app. Strange!

May have already been noted here but only just picked up on it myself - the Fox-branded digital channels (except Little Fox) have changed program labels to Hit (ie. Hit Oldschool, Hit Urban)

Happened in Monday. Has changed in Melbourne, but apparently in Brisbane they have changed to “B105 Station Name” etc.

Also of note from what I previously mentioned about on air identities, Buddha is actually still “Fox Buddha” on air.
Thought I heard it being referred to as “Hit Buddha” the other day but I guess I misheard.

Thought I’d listen to 3Fox to see what the revised format was like. And if there was any mention of its 40th birthday.

Wow. Listening to the FM signal on a proper tuner and stereo system and the audio sounds so lifeless and dull. No real top end at all and very little stereo separation. Same goes for 3MMM.

As a comparison KIIS 101.1 and Gold 104.3 both sound crisp, have good stereo imaging and more lively audio processing.

Given they’re all (probably) using Optimods you have to wonder why SCA engineering/content directors are stuffing it up.

EDIT: I take that back about the stereo imaging. Tried another tuner out of curiosity and it was much better. Not sure what’s going on there as signal strength is excellent with no multipath. But the rest of it applies!

It’s been a few years now I know, but I thought 101.9 used to sound quite good years ago? By comparison, I’ve always thought 3MMM sounded a bit dull, no matter the receiver, and evidently still does.

More shitposting, this time a Futurama themed one on SAFM.

I read this, so checked when out in the car today. Fox definitely sounds less ‘loud’ or crisp than KIIS or Nova.

So Triple M have done a brilliant job covering and celebrating their 40th birthday. However, I haven’t seen any social posts on 2DayFM’s pages to mark the occasion.

You would’ve thought with their shift to focus on an older market that they would be reminiscing the good times at the station.

Current ratings aside, it’s hard to ignore the success that 2Day had in the last 20 years especially.

Maybe because 2DayFM now is a LOT different nt to their early days. Triple M isn’t as markedly different nowadays.

2Day has changed a lot over the years. It started of as easy listening like Smooth and then became pop like KIIS.

Now it’s confused. Somewhere between 2WS and KIIS.

Tim Lee posted this to his page, how I wish this was the logo!

Surely you’d have to say the golden age for 2DayFM was most of the time (remembering that 2004 was a bit flat for them…I think 2WS-FM outrated 2Day in the occasional survey during the 1990s as well) between 1992 and 2013?

I agree. To some extent, even WSFM has more (albeit, still not that much) in common with their 2WS days than modern 2DayFM does with the 104.1FM Sydney of 1980.

The new anchor for the Bec, Cosi & Lehmo on 107.1 SAFM is Alex Flack, he took over from Hayden ‘Haydo’ Naughton, who has gone back to 104.7 Triple M.
