Beat for the entire network, not just Brisbane. So Beat92.9, Beat104.1, Beat101.9 etc.
Just so they could’ve done what Nova does and actually say the network name during national and networked shows

I agree to an extent but the nostalgia/party song thirst is real among that target demo.
RNB is too restrictive though.
Nothing wrong with stations taking leaps outside their brand if they are well executed.
As much as I loved Kix 106 back in the early 90’s it was a ratings flop, so very unlikely to come back.
Mix 106.3 going to KIIS 106.3 and Hit 104.7 to Triple M would be more likely, but still very unlikely, then Canberra fm bringing back All New All Hits Kix 106.
I would not be surprised if R&B Friday’s eventually goes, it does not fit the format as well as it did when they were Hits and Old School
Before the change this week they had reduced R&B Friday’s back to 9-3pm and then had concert in the clouds. This clashed because you would go from R&b to a Maroon Five concert.
If R&B Friday’s goes they will probably replace it with something originally like Flashback Friday’s
Beat for the entire network - They could advertise in parks and public toilets everywhere
Or you could get your mind out of the gutter and see it as a music beat, or a heart beat.
Who in Australia uses beat in that way anyway?
A lot of people
There are a number of different negative connotations to the word beat. It’s not gonna fly.
Agreed, you could never call a radio station in Brisbane ‘Beat’ or ‘The Beat’ - there is already one in this town and as described its reputation preceeds it. Just would not fly
I do not think my mind is in the gutter at all. It’s still a term commonly used, as is the activities it refers to.
Now if I inferred that Brown Shoes had the same connotation as a Brown Hanky, then my mind might be in the gutter, but I would never do such a thing.
Furthermore given the “Mega-Club” located in Brisbane that has the same name and the demographic it markets too, it is clearly a no go.
Wtf happened to this thread
Never thought I’d see the day where The Beat Megaclub or beats in general would be discussed in this forum.
Yeah it’s a beat up
Yeah, beats me.
I still reckon the network should be The Fox. It’s just iconic, cool and different.
They could do a tie in with Hungry Jacks.
The Beat brought to you by Big Jack.
I’m pretty sure you cant call a station “Beat” anyway because of the Apple Music station “Beats 1”
Same but I reckon there’s resistance due to Foxtel and other uses of the word for media
Back to Canberra, I can confirm that Hit 104.7 is running their own log today.
It looks like the new SCA Hit music log is way to close to Mix 106.3 for the joint ventures liking.
The oldest track Hit 104.7 have played so far today is Busta Move by Young MC from 1989.
The rest of the tracks have been from the 90’s 00’s 10’s and current hits.
They are also still using the old Hit network logo on their website, but with the new blue background.
They’ve reverted then, interesting.
Yes they have put a very small version of their old logo at the top left hand corner of their web page.
I wonder what’s going on behind the scenes in Canberra?
Mix106.3 needs to take the same Triple M logs as other regionals (ie from Brisbane or wherever) and that can leave HIT104.7 to move into line with other Hit stations.
