Hit 104.7 today played most of the songs from the regional log, However they did brake away on seven instances to play seven different old school tracks.
All other regional hits from what I can see ran from the same log track for track.
I don’t think Hit Canberra changing a few songs here and there would avoid a huge overlap between Hit and Mix in the market, and I don’t think it’s in either of their best interests to be running a joint venture with two stations so close to each other in format.
Surely it’s ARN though who should move Mix over to a Pure Gold format to make a bit of space for Hit - they could always treat it the same as 96fm - being aligned to the KIIS network for some national shows, but have a music format more at home on the Pure Gold side.
Edit: didn’t realise it seems the only networked show on Mix 106.3 is Kennedy Molloy from Triple M - that market/strategy is such a mess.

Correct,
Mix 106.3 is still skewed older and slightly more towards a male audience then Hit 104.7. Mix 106.3 plays some 70’s rock, but now Hit 104.7 is playing 80’s under the new Hit music strategy it is now much closer to Mix 106.3 then before.
Maybe Hit 104.7 breaking from the regional log is an attempt to minimise the overlap?
If Mix 106.3 have their own music log, so should Hit 104.7 outside off networked shows. Canberra is a large enough market for both stations to have their own dedicated logs. The last time Hit 104.7 ran their own log was when the station was treated more as a metro station by Austereo from 1994-2010??
Since SCA they have been on the regional music log.
Hmm. Not a good choice for Brisbane as any local will immediately think of a certain nightclub in the Valley catering to one demographic :). They would be expecting to hear wall to wall Bronski Beat and Erasure ![]()
R&B Friday’s will be back, Hit 101.3 was promoting it yesterday.
Very poor decision.
Why would they ditch R&B Fridays when it’s become an integral part of their brand (including live shows) in recent years? That would be nonsensical. It’s about the only thing that has worked for them in recent times.
And they’re going back to the 80s so might as well use that 80s lingo like Rhythm and Blues.
I agree than RnB as a name is a bit restrictive in terms of playlist, but they have taken a loose approach to RnB.
ZM in NZ’s similar concept of Friday Jams is a bit less restrictive.
There’s heaps of variations on that which they could have gone with
Bridge 105 (being the River City)
Boom 105
Best 105
Boss 105
Bold 105
(though the last two would nowadays draw the attention of other media groups)
Or better yet B105 and the Today network. No idea why HIT is better than Today.
Or at least limit RnB Fridays to 9-3 instead of all day long.
Because it simply doesn’t suit their brand anymore. It would be like if Smooth suddenly played Rock on Fridays. Doesn’t fit.
Bust 105
Blegh 105
Bloody 105
Or for that same demographic, Beat means a public toilet where one goes to… well… ![]()
Yeah I don’t like the name “Beat”… At least moving away from things like “Hit” and “Beat” and anything music genre wise, gives you more flexibility in the type of music you can play.
It is hard to have a station called “Hit” and then position yourself as also playing oldskool music. Someone sees “Hit” and assumes it is only new stuff, so you lock yourself into that.
Hit 104.7 is again running from a different log this morning. I assume they will join up with the other regional Hit stations sometime later this morning.

Perhaps there’s another possibility considering heritage brands are all the rage.
Beat for the entire network, not just Brisbane. So Beat92.9, Beat104.1, Beat101.9 etc.
Just so they could’ve done what Nova does and actually say the network name during national and networked shows
