Hit Network

This is excellent news. I’ve been critical in the past of Ash London Live but this gives me hope that SCA are serious about making it a true night show.

Would ARN veto the rebrand of Hit 104.7? Canberra is a weird market where there is only two commercial fm stations both owned under the joint venture.

Fm 104.7 use to be the rock station with Kix 106 / Mix 106.3 being the CHR/AC station. The joint venture then switched the format of the stations to bring Fm104.7 inline with the rest of the Today / Hit network stations.

Canberra fm could quite easily switch the stations again and make 104.7 Triple M and Mix 106.3 KIIS 106.3 but I think it would be unlikely. If it was to happen the respective audiences would just change between the two fm stations, where else are they going to go, to Am to 2CA???

Wafm.com.au redirects to the hit website - and I’m guessing it has since SCA bought those stations.

But what is super telling (and sorry if I missed someone posting this earlier), but 92.9 hasn’t adopted the new brand at all. Not even for the short term.

Nope - Sun FM. Still has quite a legacy for the locals, most still call it this now. For the others (and even Shep to some extent) have a bit of legacy around them, surely they could use this again? I’m also pretty sure Mildura could use Sun FM too, even though that was a part of the localworks network.

Ah yes, correct you are. Confused myself with Sun Mildura (now MMM)

I don’t recall there being a Sun FM in Mildura? Have I misread something?

I didn’t know that, was it owned in common with Sun FM in Shepparton?

It’s hardly oversized, it just has a lower cut neckline.

You’re sounding like a grumpy old man, write to the station if you have such a problem with it. I think it’s fine, it suited their audience and still does. Why get them dressed up for something unrealistic?

To insinuate that the women had to dress up more formal while the guys were able to just wear t-shirts is ridiculous - someone while have been managing that as @OnAir mentioned.

No. Just one with good taste and an eye for what looks good and what looks rubbish.

Yes, SCA. But it was a part of the localworks network (now Triple M). So it didn’t actually have any practical ties to the Shep station.

Looks like it was wrong. Hit FM WA (regional) has updated their socials to the new logo, it looks like any change to 92.9 will be kept separate.

Possibly to allow easier sharing of content/promotions between the stations. The Mt Gambier stations are a bit on their own compared to the rest of the network with no other SA stations. For example, Sean Craig Murphy was doing a daytime shift in Adelaide and Mt Gambier on Triple M.

With Irene Hulme as the rolled it out first in Adelaide before being promoted to extend the rollout. It’s telling that her influence on the branding and music is being removed since she’s left.

I agree, apart from NXFM and Sea FM on the Gold Coast and Central Coast there’s no heritage in any of the previous names. Much less brand loyalty for stations that popped in the late 90’s/early 2000s and have always been run cheap with no competition.

One of their best campaigns too, at the height of their success.

It’s still the hit network.

Probably, but with the rest of the team based in Adelaide he’d be in a single person booth like when Ed Kavalee did Brisbane breakfast. Em and Harley on the other hand did the full show in Melbourne with only skeleton staff in Sydney to answer the phones and nurse Maestro.

It’s owned by North West Radio Pty Ltd - which is owned by SCA. It’s the licencee of the Karratha, Hedland/Broome and remote WA stations.

Mix was the original “Today” network station, with 92.9 more aligned with Triple M, although not sharing content or format. The move to the Today network was gradual, but it took until the “swirl” logo in 2003 for it to fully switch.

Unlikely. The younger market don’t listen to radio much, and those that do will continue to be adequately served by the hit network.

Now we know why Danny Lakey finished abruptly last week. His show doesn’t start on Triple M for a few weeks.

Being a joint venture, changes to branding probably have to go past board of Canberra FM which would included representatives of both networks - so SCA wouldn’t have wanted to take it to the board before the brand launched so as to not tip off ARN. All other branding changes have been delayed in the past too, though last time it was disguised as being part of a slow rollout. I’d expect the change will come in coming weeks. Any brief change today was likely a mistake when changing the branding on about 100 pages.

It seems to have been a pretty quick rebrand process - so probably wouldn’t have been in the works when WA rebranded. New app probably no big deal as it’s pretty easy to change the logo - a good way to ensure the new app is ready for the rebrand. Little Fox is odd given the short time surely they knew.

That could be a good change with 92.9 and 94.5. SCA seem pretty determined to get Triple M rolled out and this could be a good compromise to avoid killing Mix. Hit WA has already rebranded, so no changes to be expected there now.

I’m expecting an announcement re Perth in the next week or two. Whatever it is will probably be significant enough that they’ll want to announce it separately to avoid it getting lost in the other changes.

Maybe one day we will see Mix 102.3 rebrand to KIIS 102.3?

Will be interesting what happens with hit 92.9 will it become triple m or will it just be a name change to pmfm
Just not sure how the triple M format would work on hit 92.9 local announcers networked shows any thoughts?

I honestly don’t know what they’ll do. If they were to change 92.9’s product to match the other metros, there would be too much crossover with Mix 94.5.

So, do they wait until they shift 94.5 to a full Triple M station? It already has the Triple M references on air, footy, The Club, Kennedy/Molloy, etc. Change the music and it’s done. They would then be able to shift 92.9 over, but what would they call it? Hit 92.9? PMFM? Something else?

Or, do they pull all Triple M references and programming from Mix 94.5 and shift 92.9 to Triple M? This could be problematic though, because suddenly you’d have to flip drive shows, 92.9 would pick up The Club and Footy. Would they switch breakfast shows? I think this option would cause way too much confusion.

I think the delay comes from 94.5 becoming Triple M, then they’ll flick the switch on whatever they’ll end up calling 92.9.

It makes more sense for mix to become Triple M given they already using Triple M on air for their networked shows would cause a lot of chaos to swap around.Lets see what happens.
