Mix 106.5 format for the new decade but focusing on soft AC/pop - no 70s but a smattering of 80s pop hits.
But the problem with 2Day is they still carry the name 2Day.
If youâre going to do a backflip (like KIIS did to Mix) then you need to blow up the brand & start fresh.
Imagine if Mix106.5 made their big change with K&J, etc. yet kept the name Mix106.5.
⌠Mind you, I wouldnât mind it. I think the ARN MixFM branding deserved better than what it got âŚ
In the last 2 years so much damage has been done to the 2DayFM brand the I now agree the name should be changed. I never used to think this. The whole big blue âHâ has had too many music changes and breakfast shift changes, that the once heritage brand is now unsure of itself.
The ratings are also showing that the almighty âFoxâ brand is also in trouble.
Who is responsible for this whole âHitâ network branding (with the big blue âHâ) that means something different in each market? Totally different playlists with the same logo?
There should be arrests.
Only two years? Thatâs being generous! I wouldâve said that so much damage has been done to the 2DayFM brand over at least six years (probably more like a decade+ with all scandals such as Kyleâs in 2009, the infamous Lie Detector stunt in 2012âŚ), even though the current Hit Network logo design and branding isnât quite that old.
The name Hit means absolutely nothing for the majority of metro markets these days.
Reinstate the previous metro names excl. Perth & Brisbane.
I personally think the B105 brand should be reinstated for the exact same reason the SAFM brand should make a return: Because the âBâ and âSAâ actually means something important to those listening areas!
Perth was the only metro market where the âHitâ name shouldâve been introduced, since it was only 92.9 before that station rebranded.
Donât worry Nova was horrendous last night, their playlist was no different to their standard day time playlist, you only knew it was NYE because they told you and it was ad free, it was completely free of bangers.
Kiis had the best NYE playlist other then Triple J which was also a bit pedestrian at times too.
No station really puts much effort into NYE anymore, the best ones are Slam fm Netherlands, and Radio 1. UK, and Capital fm London with their year mixes. If you had not guessed my music tastes lean towards EDM.
92.9 was PMFM, so if you think they should bring SAFM and B105 back, they should reinstate PMFM.
A real shame. How hard is it to automate a killer CHR playlist with mashups, mini countdowns of the biggest hits of the year and up tempo sweeps to get excitement for midnight.
Not that hard. And it doesnât even require rights to the official fireworks soundtrack, nor does it require an outside broadcast.
Simple easy ways that 2Day and Nova couldâve at least attempted to challenge KIIS last night.
None of them even tried and Novaâs countdown to NY was a wank fest, bragging about what a big year it was for Nova, Red Rooms etc.
If they did not have F&W & KTM I would not listen to the station.
Serious question: How many people in the KIIS/Nova/Hit/Triple J target demographics would really be listening to those stations on New Years Eve? I wouldâve presumed that most of them would be out partying (likely to a soundtrack which isnât littered with station IDs and whooping DJs) as December 31 becomes January 1!
F&W isnât ageing very well it isnât a show that can live forever in the current format as they age.
KTM is the beacon of that station god forbid Kate ever leaves
I also noticed that most of the regional stations werenât doing anything either, Move, Eagle fm, Wave and i98 did have upbeat music.
When Nova first started their NYE show was really good, upbeat music listeners calling in etc.
Seriously how hard is it to have mixes of the biggest songs of the year / decade like Capital fm London do each NYE.
PJ has completely destroyed Nova.
Problem these days no backup plans, if talent leaves they will be in just as bad or worse state then 2day fm, particularly with their music strategy.
I remember living in London in the late 1990s. Our household would always listen to Capital FM if we were home on New Yearâs Eve. The station was simply the best. It would be non-stop music with extended mixes of that yearâs hits. It was 100% fun, 100% London, 100% energy, 100% music and 100% New Yearâs Eve.
In Sydney on New Yearâs Eve you get the same old, same old, same old. Of course we donât put the radio on at a house party.
In the 80s and 90s so many stations in Sydney would make a big deal out of New Yearâs Eve. It would be live, local and exciting. I agree that KIIS was the only station that put any effort into its NYE broadcast.
Luckily for SCA, Seven are reviving Big Brother, which will restock the cupboard of future breakfast hosts.
Even just a generalised rhythmic/dance format, make it more down the road of a cross between say Hot 97 and WKTU.
Promo it along the lines of â2dayâs new energy.â
Thereâs enough excellent jocks out there to really push that one hard, let em enjoy what they do and play, basically give them free reign with a very wide playlist.
If they had the guts, theyâd do it now, especially given itâs the 40th anniversary this year.
However at this rate, it may as well go back to easy listening. Itâs senile enough to be.
2day fm new format for 2020, in tune with 2day, Non stop George Benson, Dolly Parton, Eagles. Earth Wind and Fire Throwing Back to the 80âs.

More like throwing up than throwing back with that line-up.
Donât laugh itâll probably happen.
