2 Day FM & Hit 107 using the same slogan, I wonder if Hit 107 are playing the same type of music as 2Day FM.

Heard a weird promo on Urban Hits that said something like ‘Welcome Nova listeners’. Dig at their playlist change or is this just a Hit thing?

Simply silly ideas of inside jokes being lost on the audience. There’s no advantage in such marketing.

And yet, their ratings have been rising.

2DAY have been advertising their ad free mornings on TV.

whats the point of this? it’s gotta cost the station some cash. perhaps hoping people tune in for breakfast and than stick around for the day?

Can’t sell the ad time and turning it into a branding opportunity?

Of course with that claim there’s a disclaimer…

Video, for what it’s worth

Attempting to get more listeners/higher ratings, I’d imagine.

Only time will tell whether or not it’s a successful tactic.

Offering non-stop music between 9am and midday has been tried before in Sydney. In 2011 Sydney’s 95.3 (now smooth) offered us 3 hours of continuous music after 9am.

I am always interested in how stations attempt to market non-stop music. You can have:

  • 3 Hours Commercial Free Music
  • 3 Hours Non-stop Music
  • 3 Hours Ad-free Music
  • 3 Hour Music Jam
  • 30 Hits in a Row
  • 3 Hours Lock Down
  • 3 Hours All Music
  • 2 Hours Continuous Music
  • 3 Hour Music Block
  • 3 Hours of 100% Music

Vega (the same station that eventually became Classic Rock, Sydney’s 95.3 & now Smooth) also did this back in the mid to late 00s, especially after the “Vega Variety” format was introduced in May 2006.

Don’t most stations do ad-free for an arbitrary amount of time after 9am?

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

There’s likely still a lot of gaps on their ad inventory even after removing three hours from it.

Not all the idiots who pushed K&J away have resigned or been sacked yet.

Grant Blackley looking to save money, time to cut the rest of them and get them out of the building. The station and company doesn’t need these people with unfamiliar perceptions of life not on top.
