The Sound in NZ also play the 2 songs together
The Alan Parsons Project have many other songs that should have been radio fodder; look up āStanding On Higher Groundā from the Gaudi album for example.
EON FM used to play āStanding On Higher Groundā when it was released in 1987.
āIām Not Perfectā by Grace Jones heard on Woolworths instore radio at their Preston (VIC) store.
Heard āRose of Cimarronā by Poco this morning. Been at least 20 years since Iāve heard this song.
Excellent. It might have got a run on FM104 Brisbane as well, probably not 2MMM though. EON probably got onto it from KMET Los Angeles where it was apparently a regular.
These days, you will hear it on @Mechsta The Mechie Show on 2BBB from time to time.
Yes I had a listen and āStanding on Higher Groundā was vaguely familiar so likely was played on FM104. They definitely played āSirius/Eye in the Skyā, āDonāt Answer Meā, āGames People Playā and āI Wouldnāt Want to be Like Youā. All great songs.
Donāt Fear The Reaper/Blue Oyster Cult tonight on 4KQ. They play this one occasionally but it always sounds good to me.
āRadio ā by The Members (1983) Triple M today, in āGeneration Xā
Great One Hit Wonderš
āLove Isā Alannah Myles (1989)
The hey hey itās Saturday Song on SWR FM sung by Ricky May
This afternoon Gold 104.3 played Miss This Tonight by Matt Moffitt. One of my all time favorite songs and I havenāt heard it on radio for many, many years. Absolutely made my day hearing it again.
Itās a great song. Iāve tried find it on iTunes but can never find it to buy.
That Matt Moffitt album isnāt on any of the digital music services, though someone posted a rip on a blog a while ago which is how I heard it. The album tracks donāt quite match up to the standard of āMiss This Tonightā, though. The Matt Finish stuff is more widely available, I think.
Ok, Iām now overjoyed because this morning on Triple M I heard āBustinā Looseā by Moving Pictures. I am in my element!! All I need now is to hear āThis Timeā by Dragon and Iāll be the happiest person in Melbourne!
On Triple M today:
Madness, āOur House ā (1982)
Bustinā Loose and This Time are both just fantastic songs. I canāt think of 2 more powerful songs that ātake me backā to their time so well.
My mistake, I meant the song was āHouse of Funā by Madnessš
Up in Coffs Harbour at the moment, just heard this:
Too Young For Promises - Koo De Tah
On 900 2LM Lismore
Havenāt heard that for a while!
Quintessential NZ/ Australian 80s song. Love it. It reached No. 6 in Australia but bizarrely only No. 48 in NZ.
Triple M yesterday and today:
Ian Dury, āSex and Drugs and RockānāRollš
Billy Thorpe ,āMost People I Know Think that Iām Crazyā
Dragon, āAre You Old Enoughā
Blondie , āAtomic ā
