Triple M today, “All Along the Watchtower “ Jimi Hendrix👍
No station will ever rate 30 points ever again
. I wasn’t trendy back then ,Stereo 10 were my favourite station back in 1987-88 though I did occasionally change over to FM 104
Listened to the SWR FM “Awesome 80s” program online for a while this afternoon and heard a few very good (if not all great) songs
Rock The Night - Europe
(I had forgotten about this song!).
Just Another Day - Oingo Boingo
Arizona Sky - China Crisis
One Thing Leads To Another - The Fixx
InPhase is the program to listen to on SWR for good, rare stuff (1000-1200 Saturday).
Skyhooks ,”Women in Uniform “ on Triple M today. They had ‘ 2 for Tuesday ‘ today ,they used to do that way back in the FM 104 days
What a beatuful name Hillsong United Vision Christian Radio now
Ah 2 for Tuesday on FM104, that takes me back.
Never Surrender/Corey Hart today on 4KQ.
I generally find I like the 80s songs 4KQ play, when they play 80s. They’re usually the less-flogged ones
Triple M today;
‘Lucky Number” ,Lene Lovich(1979)
‘Atomic’ ,Blondie
Desensitized- INVERTIGO (Chilli FM Scottsdale/Lonny).
Heard about 1400 on Sunday afternoon. I haven’t heard this on commercial radio since it was in rotation around 2000. It does get an airing occasionally on The Mechie Show @Mechsta
Triple M today;
James Reyne , ‘Slave” need subtitles to understand the words when he sings
Tracy Bonham(never heard from her again)’”Mother Mother” from 1996
Sitting in the car waiting 2nd for Friday night takeaway and this comes one Aussie
Really don’t get enough Black Sorrows in the airways.
Heard on KOFM Newcastle (and presumably other SCA regionals) today:
Hit That Perfect Beat - Bronski Beat
Haven’t heard that on the radio for a while.
Baby Animals - Working for the Enemy (Rebel)
Banger of an album track from one of the great debut albums out there, nice to hear something a bit different of theirs too
Not commercial radio but significant nonetheless:
Thick As A Brick, Side 1- JETHRO TULL
short announcement, then
Thick As A Brick, Side 2- JETHRO TULL
(2VOX FM, Tuesday night).
A very self-indulgent wank if you’re not a fan, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
On Triple M today:
Alan Parsons Project, “Eye in the Sky” (1982)
This is a group who deserves more air play “Don’t Answer Me “ is another song from them I remember, also “Games People Play”
Did they play the long intro to ‘Eye in the Sky’ ?
All three are great songs.
That would be ‘Sirius’, and in my books it’s criminal not to play it (most stations omit it of course).
Yes that’s it. FM104 used to always play it back in the day. The only station I’ve heard play the Sirius intro lately is Breeze.
No they didn’t
