Hammerhead - James Reyne on Bay 93.9’s 80s Lunch today. Wow!
Rush - The Spirit of Radio on Triple M Melbourne of all places this morning! Part of a triple play of Canadian artists for Canada Day.
Wow that’s shocking, anything else decent that’s been playing on the MMM’s?
I apparently heard “Senses Working Overtime” on Triple M Regional via “Triple M Newcastle” on their “Awesome 80s Fridays” earlier today. Apparently the Regional MMMs and Triple M in Adelaide and Brisbane still does the “Awesome 80s” playlist whilst Sydney and Melbourne have dropped it recently.
I’ve been sampling some of the SRN stations online over the past day or so.
Listening to 2DU Dubbo right now…
Neil Diamond - Shilo
Bread - Baby I’m A Want You
Splinter - Costafine Town (made top 20 here in 1975)
Little River Band - It’s A Long Way There
Yesterday 2HC Coffs Harbour
Olivia Newton-John - Magic
Jewel - Standing Still
Diesel - All Come Together
Ray Stevens - Everything Is Beautiful
Neil Diamond - Longfellow Serenade
Rick Price - Not A Day Goes By (probably still played a lot elsewhere, but I haven’t heard that one in ages)
Not long after, the stream started breaking up and skipping about, so that was it.
Seems SRN like Neil Diamond, but kudos for them playing something different instead of Sweet Caroline or Cherry Cherry!
REO Speedwagon - Take It On the Run on Breeze this morning. REO doesn’t get a lot of mentions in this thread.
Probably fits into their demos nicely… the 70+ somethings on their rocking chairs or gophers.
That’s a brilliant song.
I like it as well.
You can say I heard it from a friend, who heard it from a friend, who…
I heard it from another you’ve been messing around
Yesterday afternoon, Smooth 91.5 played Flowers by Miley Cyrus.
For me, it’s belongs in the Not this song again thread.
Funnily enough, you’ll never guess what Breeze played just this afternoon after our conversation in the other thread:
And later on, Rebel did its bit for tourism in South East Asia by playing Holiday in Cambodia by Dead Kennedys
This arvo listening to 4KZ online -
Mark Williams - Show No Mercy
Edie Brickell & New Bohemians - What I Am
Deacon Blue - Real Gone Kid
Gary Numan - Cars
In Port Macquarie tonight.
Heard today on the way up.
When The River Runs Dry - Hunters & Collectors (on Cruze 93.5)
Absolutely - Eurogliders (on 103.1 Tank FM Kempsey).
Heard a few bangers whilst having lunch at the Galaxy Buffet at the Mayfield Ex-Service Club
“What it feels like for a Girl” - Madonna
“Strangelove” - Depeche Mode
“To Be A Lover” - Billy Idol
“Lay Me Down” - Sam Smith
The second song being an underplayed song on radio from Depeche Mode as you only hear “Just Can’t Get Enough” as the song has been flogged to hell and back by mainstream artists here as they’re probably an underrated band in Australia and globally acclaimed everywhere else.
Now in Ballina.
Heard a few good songs on the way up
Crush - Jennifer Paige (On 93.5 Cruze FM Port Macquarie)
Lucky Me - Bachelor Girl (On FM104.7 Grafton)
Have A Little Faith (In Us) - John Farnham (on 101.9 Paradise FM Ballina).
Songs heard on the drive from Ballina to Armidale (via Tenterfield) today
The Gambler - Kenny Rogers (on 88.9 2RBR Coraki)
Barbados - The Models (on 94.5 ABC Local Radio Lismore)
Touch Peel & Stand - Days Of The New (on Rebel 93.7 Tenterfield).
Kiss Me - Stephen “Tin Tin” Duffy (on 102.5 Breeze Tenterfield). Haven’t heard that on radio for years!
That’s What Friends Are For - Dionne Warwick (on 1134 2AD Armidale…still in glorious AM mono!)
Heaven For Everyone - Queen (on 92.1 2ARM Armidale).
Heaven For Everyone is a great one. And rarely heard on radio.
A couple from today’s drive west.
88.9fm Tamworth were playing a stack of Beatles songs today. Can’t recall why. A couple I heard were
Come Together
Love Me Do
Also heard on Triple G Gunnedah (and NOW FM Moree since it was a networked shift)
Rehab - Amy Winehouse
