I still remember the outcry when ‘Duncan’ made MMM’s Essential 2005. That countdown basically ushered in the Jack FM era of the Ms.

Jack FM merely followed Jammin’ Oldies and other such imported Yank things – PAMS jingles in the 1960s AM Top 40 years and also Hot Hits 3XY?

Don’t Give Up - Peter Gabriel & Kste Bush

Currently playing on Triple M Nights With Dave Gleeson.

But also an odd song choice for Triple M.

Could be worse. They could have played the version done by Shannon Noll and Natalie Bassingthwaite.

Oh yes, there are ALOT worse songs, the Shannon/Nat version isn’t too bad by cover standards imo. Not as good as the original of course.

Journey- Separate Ways now on the Rebel. It’s good to hear something different from them.

I always hated the Sopranos

Really love hearing songs from Journey’s discography other than “Don’t Stop Believin’” which still gets played a lot on radio stations internationally outside the US (other than Steve Perry’s “Oh Sherrie”).

The only reason why the former song got a huge amount of airplay internationally nowadays is from the infamous series finale of The Sopranos’ “Made in America” which aired in 2007 alongside Glee which premiered two years later. Although the first time I heard “DSB” was on the Season 4 episode of Family Guy titled “Don’t Make Me Over” which aired two years before the Sopranos finale.”

Ah, didn’t know that… so that’s what @mullauna was referring to then…

Thanks for that info re The Sopranos and Journey. I’ve always thought it was the Glee cover that suddenly sparked interest in ‘Don’t Stop Believin’; you only ever heard ‘Oh Sherrie’ before the late noughties.

Journey have a lot of great AOR songs- ‘Girl Can’t Help It’ is my favourite.

They also played Year of the Cat - wish some of Al Stewart’s other songs got played more.

They need to play a certain Song On The Radio, indeed, but months and years- many Time Passages- will expire before you hear those ones on commercial radio.

@dxnerd I didn’t hear you on BRW this afternoon?

Whoever it was on put together an appropriately themed playlist, though it went on for a bit too long. Did hear some good rarer tunes though.

Devil’s Party – INXS
Twilight Zone – Golden Earring
Time Warp – Rocky Horror Show Cast
The Witch Queen Of New Orleans – Redbone
Eye Of The Zombie – John Fogerty
You’re The Devil In Disguise – Elvis Presley
Evil Ways – Santana
