Yes - 2RE is one of the best.
I was a little disappointed this morning to see that they had network programming this morning (it’s usually local) - maybe it was because it’s a long weekend.
At 7:21 PM on Triple M Classic Rock Digital. I heard The Who’s “Behind Blue Eyes” a personal classic of mine from 1971 which shows the drumming ability of the late Keith Moon and one of the best anger fuelled ballads by the British rock quartet which would later be covered by Jon English in 1977 and Bruce Dickinson in 2012. Sadly many millennials will remember the somewhat laughable Limp Bizkit cover from 2003 which charted at number 12 on the Aria Top 100 2004 chart.
On Rebel 99.4 today, I heard the Kiss classic “Spit” from their 1992 album “Revenge.” Rebel 99.4 is still the best station for rock 24-7 in Australia, I’m glad there’s at least ONE station that plays KISS songs other than “I Was Made For Loving You” and “Rock And Roll All Night.” Radio barely plays any songs from their Bruce Kullick and Eric Carr era, or even their songs with Eric Singer. LONG LIVE REBEL, AND LONG LIVE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL
Also on Rebel 99.4, heard some rockers from Dinosaur Pile Up, Judas Priest, Scorpions, Skid Row, Chocolate Starfish, The Rolling Stones, Metallica , Avenged Sevenfold, AC/DC, more Kiss, Godsmack, Blondie, The White Stripes, Genesis, Tom Petty, Rainbow, Mumford & Son, Deep Purple, The Stems, Delta Riggs, Def Leppard, Bachman-Turner-Overdrive, Mammoth WVH, British India, Iron Maiden, Bloodhound Gang and Fear Factory, Goldfinger, Alice In Chains, Faith No More, Nirvana, The Getaway Plan, Violent Soho, Van Halen, The Strokes, Children Collide, Ozzy Osbourne, Monster Magnet, The Distillers, Baby Animals, Green Day, System Of A Down, Cosmic Psychos, Grinspoon, Motor Ace, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Kings Of Leon.
Been saying the same and absolutely agree 100%
Can you imagine Triple M with this playlist, you could do an awesome relaunch.
I do like what Triple M have done with their Alternative format in Perth and great increases last book across all demos.
Power FM Townsville used to be great however they’ve mainstreamed and lightened the sound by putting away the Slipknots.
But you’re right Rebel is easily the best rock station in the country by miles.
I agree with you about Triple M Perth, although a lot of the songs aren’t considered alternative by some people. It’s still good variety, and I’m all for it! Yeah, Power used to be quite well. What about BRock?
Rebel is not only by far the best rock station in the country, it’s probably the best I’ve heard anywhere in the world, recently anyway.
Honestly, it’s just as good as any online rock station. Great shows, great music, and good syndicated shows with Sammy Hagar, Dee Snider and Alice Cooper. In my opinion, all Rock and all of its genres and subgenres are real rock. And Rebel acknowledges them all in some way, so Rebel is a real rock station.
Power 100 in Townsville is a great rock music station also.
On Gold 104.3’s Party Playlist tonight:
Rio - Duran Duran
We Close Our Eyes - Go West
There is an online-only rock station in Australia (ROQ FM). I find that to be much safer than Rebel. Rock Antenne Germany is good for AOR but as you say,Rebel covers all genres of rock.
I think I’ve listened to them at least a couple of times before, depending on my mood and how I feel, I’ll prefer much more mellow songs. So definitely a good station, I listened to The Beatles songs they played at 9:00 AM today on ROQ FM!
Tonight
It’s All Been Done - Barenaked Ladies
On 107.9 Move FM Lithgow
Love that song!
I’d forgotten about that one ,I got sick of hearing’One Week ‘ for the millionth time almost every day
8:10pm tonight on WSFM:
It’s getting close to a quarter of a century since this song was first released (January 17, 2000).
The equivalent of playing a song from 1974-75 back then! Yikes.
Reminds me of when WSFM played the Uncanny X-Men’s “50 Years” (released in 1985) a while ago.
The announcer made a reference to the line ‘where will we be in.50 Years’ and pointed out that is only 11 years away. And i was like “aaagh!!”.
Heard “Back to the Wall” by Divinyls on Triple M Newcastle 102.9 (and other regional affiliates) half and hour ago as part of MMM’s Double Shot Tuesday with “Boys in Town” (another one of the band’s most flogged songs on the Triple M Network next to “I Touch Myself”) played beforehand. Preferably one of the most underrated songs from Divinyls’ discography from 1988 as the song also appeared on Nightmare on Elm Street 4.
Heard on the in store radio at my local shopping centre today
Bed Of Nails - Ross Wilson
Great song lost to commercial FM radio.
we buried my dad with that song - his absolute favourite.
