Great songs heard on radio

Sophie B had some great songs.

It kind of puts commercial radio to shame when music video channels play better music

Saw these three in a row just now on MTV 80s (Foxtel Channel 804)

Lessons In Love - Level 42
Too Much - Bros
I Was Born To Love You - Freddie Mercury

I believe this channel is now programmed in the US, which sadly would mean that I won’t see much Australian music, certainly not like with the old MAX Music TV channel.

NOW 80s, a FAST channel on my Fetch TV, is a UK based music video channel is another one that also plays some great rarely heard on radio songs.

The Proclaimers - Sunshine On Leith. Just now on The Breeze (of course). Never heard this song on radio let alone on radio in Australia! Was soooo good to hear.

As a Heart of Midlothian supporter I puke when this song comes on, given the close link with Hibernian (didn’t think Scottish Football would get a run on this thread didn’t you)…

The Stranger by Billy Joel

Just now on Breeze 100.6

I walked around Woolworths this morning and they heard a good song, Scar from Missy Higgins.

The Fire Inside/ Bob Seger on Breeze. Gee haven’t heard this song for decades. It’s more an album track I thought. Anyway I must have heard it on FM104 maybe in an album show.

The Triple M (Sydney) metro GOAT Year Battles is playing some great tracks.

Today the battle was 1971 vs 1983

Some great 1971 songs I heard today were

Maggie May - Rod Stewart
Stairway To Heaven - Led Zeppelin
Lola - The Kinks

(as 70s music is fast becoming lost to radio as we age).

1983 was a little more predictable but notable songs I heard were

Beat It - Michael Jackson (not often heard on the metro stations)
1999 - Prince (only notable because they played the 12 inch mix)
Owner Of A Lonely Heart - Yes

At 2:56 PM during Triple M Sydney’s GOAT Year countdown, they played Divinyls: “I Ain’t Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore” a cover of the Young Rascals song from 1965 that appeared in the 1992 film “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

The quintessential yacht rock track for mine. It has all the elements (sax, mellow vocals, the atmosphere of regretfully leaving a sleazy motel at 3 AM).
