2NUR FM Newcastle were playing some great songs today

Rock On - David Essex
Wild Horses - Gino Vanelli
No More Lonely Nights (ballad) - Paul McCartney
(I prefer the playout version, but that’s still a good song)
Maybe Only I Dream - Eurogliders
Garden Party - Ricky Nelson

Conversely only heard one good one on Triple M Newcastle on their “two up Tuesday”

When You Come - Crowded House

2NUR have a really good mix of music. I should listen more often.

@Laoma missed this one!

(He’s currently doing a ‘dream’ theme request on the Conga Line).

Yes, that one i haven’t heard on the radio for years!

Haha yeah I limit myself one song per year… That one is from 1984. I wish it charted in 1983.

Spoiler alert for Braidwood FM listeners.

For 1984 I have “Had a Dream (Sleeping With the Enemy)”

For 1983 (this week) I could only find the WSFM classic/ forever classic / Better Music and more of it flogged song of Sweet dreams (at the time of making the list), maybe there was another dream song that charted in 1983 and never found by myself…Never mind maybe people listening to GN FM/2CA/2EC/MIX having issues with reception (Braidwood doesn’t have great reception of commercial stations) with the above mentioned stations in Braidwood and will suddenly lock into the Billy Bob show thinking it is a new repeater. You will get a sudden uptick in listeners.

If you could go 1985, there is Pseudo Echo’s “Living In Dream” or for 1988, “Dreaming” by OMD.

There’s a couple of other well known 1984 “dream” songs by Dan Hartman and also from Phil Oakey / Giorgio Moroder too.

This originates from KFAI Minneapolis. Ron’s show is a great one and you can hear the 32 years (!) of archives here:

Ron loves his Level 42.

Died Pretty - DC on 94.1 FM Gold Coast today. Surprising station to hear a song like that on.

This is a good illustration of the Hot AC turn of Eagle/Snow FM. Good track though.

12:05pm this afternoon (30/3) on Nova 96.9: “Pure Shores” by All Saints. A timeless classic which remains a favourite of mine.

Good song, though I like “Black Coffee” even better.

Another ‘Totally 80s weekend’ on Gold 104.3 (seems to be every weekend now) and they’ve played some good ones on this Easter Sunday afternoon/evening.

Straight Up - Paula Abdul
Ship of Fools - World Party
Man Overboard - Do-Re-Mi
Hold Me Now (12 inch version!) - Thompson Twins

When will WSFM ever learn from the Gold log?!

I did hear WS play Melissa Etheridge’s “Similar Features”’ but that’s about it.

Eagle FM has definitely improved music wise. I heard them play James Blunt’s “1973” this afternoon, a forgotten artist and great song.

It’s almost like the Forever Classic and Hot AC music directors at the Capital Radio Network have swapped jobs, its now GN/XL playing the safer stuff and Eagle/Snow playing the rarer gems.
