Now would be a good time to give Wayne Mac’s ‘Retro Stream’ a plug. It specialises in forgotten radio hits. It only runs during the weekend but is curated by Wayne himself, so the music flows well together. This weekend he’s doing a ‘90’s and beyond’ feature:
Thanks for the tip. Looks like another great online stream.
Thanks for the heads up, just having a bit of a listen now…
It also runs on Fridays too by the looks it… I haven’t heard any voice breaks yet after 10 songs either, so I assume it’s wholly automated with no voice tracks.
The music is a bit of mixture of ‘forgotten’ songs as you say plus others that are quite well known that still get a bit of airplay on commercial radio (eg. have heard ‘Human Touch’ - Bruce Springsteen, ‘If Tomorrow Never Comes’ - Ronan Keating, ‘Together Again’ - Janet Jackson and ‘Hanging By A Moment’ - Lifehouse) in those last 10 songs.
It’s all music with no announcing but the playlist is put together by Wayne. There are some IDs by Ron E Sparks. You’re right, it usually starts around 1600 on Friday afternoon and runs through to Sunday evening.
Get Set - Taxiride
On Power FM Muswellbrook during their “Flashback Lunch” which is mostly 90s to 10s songs (up at Maitland as I type).

My music highlights from tonight’s ‘Nights with Dave Gleeson’ were:
Put Down That Weapon - Midnight Oil
Polyester Girl - Regurgitator
Little Darling - Jimmy Barnes
Those 2 songs on Smooth are just awful. For me they are great examples of what’s wrong with Smooth at the moment.
Havana - a staple song on K Rock Geelong.
Dancing in the Moonlight - used to be flogged to death on Nova when it commenced transmission. The video was on high rotation on Channel [V] and MAX (both RIP).
I always associate Dancing in the Moonlight with regional radio stations for some reason. I tend to hear it way more often in regional areas comapred to metro stations.
Perhaps because the country skies are cleaner out here, you can actually see the moon here
I could not agree more. That Dancing in the Moonlght songs gets flogged to death on the regional Triple M stations

9:33pm: “From the Sea” by Eskimo Joe
9:36pm: “American Idiot” by Green Day
Tonight’s Nine at Nine is the best of 2004 (the year I became a teenager).

I only tuned in for the Classic 9 at 9… earlier I listened to the Retro 20/20 Countdown (streamed via 2NM)
Their theme was 1988 songs… my highlights
Don’t Need Love - Johnny Diesel And The Injectors
Oh Yeah – Yello
Perfect – Fairground Attraction
Big Hotel – Big Pig
The Only Way Is Up – Yazz & The Plastic Population
I think tonight was the first time I’d heard the Classic 9 at 9 in its entirety - so many good 2004 throwbacks.
I always equate this song with the moment 80s music officially died, and music in general started going downhill
I’m not a big fan of this song either👎
Bless My Soul by Powderfinger is a surprising one! Underrated song from them.
The Freshmen - The Verve Pipe.
Just played on Triple M Melbourne (and probably other metros) as part of the Top 99 of the 90s countdown they are doing this weekend. A return to normal transmission immediately with some safe Pearl Jam.
