Simple Minds - ‘Love Song’ on 101.5FM at around 3:12pm.
Honestly, any Simple Minds song besides ‘Don’t You Forget About Me’ is a notable play (only other song I have heard from them on radio recently was ‘Alive And Kicking’ which plays regularly on MMM 80s Digital)
92.3 FM in Brisbane at 9:20pm: “Before the Worst” by The Script. Peaked at #10 on the Australian charts; its success was boosted by the band performing this song at the 2009 NRL Grand Final.
Nights with Dave Gleeson on Triple M at 9:26pm: “Something Happened on the Way to Heaven” by Phil Collins.
Followed up with ‘Face The Face’ by Pete Townshend then ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ by (the late but great) Sinéad O’Connor on Triple M Nights with Dave Gleeson.
Notable mention:
KIIS973 Brisbane currently playing ‘It’s Only The Beginning’ by Deborah Conway, haven’t heard that one in a while, especially on KIIS.
What station is on 92.3 at Brisbane? Can’t seem to be able to get a signal (I live in Caboolture and most Brisbane stations come through with RDS and in Stereo).
It’s either narrowcast or you are confusing it for another station on a similar frequency.
A few other good ones I heard on Gleeson’s show tonight included
Short Skirt / Long Jacket - Cake
Darling It Hurts - Paul Kelly & The Messengers
The Lady Don’t Mind - Talking Heads
Suicide Blonde - INXS
Selling The Drama - Live
Longview - Green Day
Like A Stone - Audioslave
Whilst most of these artists are fairly commonly heard, good to hear their lesser known songs are getting an airing.
Tonight’s Classic 9 at 9 was acts with bald headed members (nude nuts as they called them). Peter Garrett’s Midnight Oil was at #1 with “ US Forces”.
8:05pm on Nights with Dave Gleeson: “Where the Streets Have No Name” by U2 followed immediately by “Smooth Criminal” by Alien Ant Farm
9:25pm: “Viva la Vida” by Coldplay
9:35pm on HIT Network: “Four to the Floor (Thin White Duke Remix)” by Starsailor
This is the original version of said song by Starsailor, which peaked at #5 on the ARIA Charts in 2004:
Though the remix was the version they more-often-than-not played on the radio.
