Yesterday on the 92.9 Fm I heard a good song:
Where the streets have no Name — U2

WSFM played these two underplayed songs in today’s “Four from Before”.

King For A Day - Thompson Twins
King Of Pain - The Police

No prizes for guessing the theme, or why the theme was chosen.

The theme is ‘Kings’ in honour of today being King Charles’s birthday

A great song. They did a great job performing this at the 2022 Superbowl HT Show a few of months after 9/11.

Dave Gleeson’s Nights show on Triple M is a great listen, I should tune in more often. Great songs I heard tonight were

Break On Through - The Doors

And the “Classic 9 at 9” focussed on 1984 for the year that CDs first came out. And the 9 played tracks were all released on CDs at the time (so they said). Rarer great songs played tonight for me were;

The Unforgettable Fire- U2
Big On Love - The Models
Shout To The Top - Style Council
Purple Rain - Prince

This afternoon On the ABC Perth radio they played Understand from Meg Mac.

Closer To Fine / Indigo Girls on Breeze. It used to get quite a bit of airplay but I haven’t heard it for years. This is the type of surprise song that should turn up randomly on stations like Smooth or Gold/WS. Smooth used to surprise with songs once upon a time, but not anymore.

A lot of INXS songs on the radio today in recognition of today being 25 years since Michael Hutchence’s death. The pick of the ones I heard for me was

This Time - INXS

Played on WSFMs Totally 80s at 1pm. They also played

Human - Human League

Played on my breakfast show not that long ago.

I do mine The Breeze for suggestions at times, though not on this occasion.

One of those songs that was thrashed when it first came out. Haven’t heard it on radio for decades.

One of the great Australian songs of all time in my opinion and criminally ignored by radio in the last couple of decades.

Someone at 99.7 Bridge might be reading this forum as they just played it this morning. To be fair I have heard it once or twice on either Bridge or Breeze in recent years.

Triple M has been serving up more A Flock of 80s Friday goodies today, they’re now throwing a few 12 inch remixes into the playlist too, which is great to hear!

Regional Ms
Funky Town 12 inch - Pseudo Echo
Big Love - Fleetwood Mac
Rain On The Scarecrow - John Cougar Mellencamp
Turn Me Loose - Loverboy
Don’t Go - Hothouse Flowers
Flesh For Fantasy - Billy Idol

Triple M Sydney
I Ran 12 inch - A Flock Of Seagulls
One Vision - Queen
One Love - Bob Marley And The Wailers
Walls Come Tumbling Down - Style Council

Other rare songs heard on other stations today were

Crying In The Chapel - Peter Blakeley (on Hope 103.2 Sydney)
Hope - David Campbell (on Hawkesbury Radio 89.9)
Rhythm Of The Night - DeBarge (on Smooth 95.3 Sydney)
Space Oddity - David Bowie (on Super Radio Network AM - both 2HD FM 90.5 and 2RE 88.9 for me). Unfortunately both in glorious mono. It’s been a while since I’ve heard that one on the radio.
