Great songs heard on radio

So does their cover of “Can’t Help Falling In Love”

And played again this morning. Aside from the repetitiveness of the ads, Coles DAB is now my go to station for a good mix.

Coconut
Song by Harry Nilsson

What a cool novelty song never heard it before. Heard on the Fresh Mix. I need to try to have fresh lime with coconut water… Probably has some sinister double meaning.

Stan Ridgway - The Big Heat and Patrice Rushen - Forget Me Nots. As heard this afternoon on 2BBB before The Mechie Show started.

Greedy People- Electric Hippies on Power FM! Looks like it’s all all 90s weekend. They played Collective Soul afterwards: a key Power FM artist in 1994 which took me right back.

They’re also doing it across all of ARN Regional’s Hot AC stations, including Wave, 7HO, Hot Tomato etc, as well as the Grant-owned K Rock.

Hows the reception of power fm at Bungendore?

Patchy but just listenable on the car radio. Local signal (with RDS) on the Yagi.

dxnerd, I’d be really interested to know what sort of FM antenna you have found gives the best results? Is it a 3 element or more and do you find better results mounting it vertical or horizontal?

It is an 8 element Matchmaster Yagi mounted horizontally. I also have a rotator. Vertical polarisation may be desirable if you wish to listen to community stations, however for FM DXing purposes horizontal is the way to go.

This afternoon before The Mechie Show on 2BBB, these great tracks were heard.

Spandau Ballet - Fight for Ourselves
John Paul Young - Soldier of Fortune

Both tunes you never hear anymore.

Incidentally, both were Mechie Show classics before the move to the all prog format.

XL’s ‘TGIF’ all 80s Friday was on fire tonight. Amongst great songs by Matt Finish, Margaret Urlich (actually an era error) and XTC to name but a few, the standout was ‘Life’s A Gamble’ by The Radiators. I have only heard that one on Paul’s Powerzone or Inphase (can’t remember which). Great stuff.

That’s a great one. Speaking of Cliff, I heard another rare one the other night “Baby You’re Dynamite”. It was either on Breeze or 4BH
