Great songs heard on radio

I take it the 4BH is either a re-recording, or a cover. The violin intro to the version in this vid seems to be unique to this radio station’s aircheck, while all the ones posted on youtube seem to have a guitar intro. I like this 4BH rendition better (wherever they got it from) as it has more of that 80s feel.

Put Down That Weapon - Midnight Oil

Just played on Triple M Sydney.

A great underplayed Oils song, as opposed to hearing “Beds Are Burning” for the bazillionth time.

If it happens to be an emergency….

My fave Oils tune.

What about Power and the Passion?

I reckon I hear “Beds…” more often than “Power…”

But yes, “Power…” gets played a fair bit too.

‘Blue Sky Mine’ is a sentimental favourite as it’s probably the earliest chart song I remember, along with ‘That’s Freedom’ by Farnesy.

Garrett had a way of inserting powerful, pithy political rhetoric in his songs; unfortunately this didn’t quite translate to long term success in (real world) politics.

Now I’d like to think SCA are reading this thread.

Triple M played this song last night during their “Flock Of 80s Fridays”.

Wowsers. Played that one on the Billy Bob Show not long ago. Didn’t think anyone else knew about it!

Kyrie - Mr Mister on Triple M Melbourne’s Flock of 80s now, sandwiched inbetween their usually overflogged artists and songs.

Great song. Never get tired of that one.

Same here, would have loved to hear them play “Is It Love?” or “Something Real”, but that’s probably asking too much!

I have the original LP of Mr Mister “Welcome to the Real World” bought in 1986 and all the above songs are on it. Still in mint condition.

Its a great album, I have the CD, and also the follow up album “Go On…”, which is more restrained and adult contemporary.

Agree with @Karen_Cee1 I like UB40 too, I know some on here don’t though, “Red Red Wine” was one of my earliest music and radio memories, whilst on a family holiday near Forster, it was on the car radio one time and I could see the dial up at the top the AM band near the "160’ marker, and I remember thinking to myself "I wonder what station that is’.

Shame radio rarely plays anything other than “Red Red Wine” these days, “The Way You The Things You Do” and “Here I Am” might also get the occasional spin.

I’d love to hear them play “If It Happens Again” though.

Ill give it a run on my show this week. I just listened to it and like it!

Which song is that?
