Rebel and Breeze now have a captive market. Time to celebrate with the Fooies- Generator (or on Breeze, maybe some ELO).

Time for TV viewers to see if the old Brisbane antenna still works.

There aren’t many of those about now. Saying that, I stayed at a brand new high rise Hotel in Surfers in 2018 that only installed a VHF antenna to Brisbane. A retune proved that no UHF antenna in the mix - obviously filters placed in the MATV as the GC stations didn’t even show at all when retuning.

Many along the coast/elevated locations have good reception of Mt Nardi TV (and radio) signals if they have an antenna for it. The old VHF 6/8 won’t do it of course.

ABC services all on as many ridges to the SE at Lower Beechmont.

@AJ1’s Breeze and Rebel on, different site, the former @MrX site, he’ll be happy.

104.1, Bill’s Radio 97 on air as at Elanora.

According to the stations themselves “the transmitter … died this morning”, “transmission towers are down”, “generator switch over” or “main power issue”

This won’t be a problem in roughly 15/20 years when everything is internet based.

So, is it just that the generator has stopped working?

Even then you still have to have a satellite somewhere picking up and pumping everything out. Plus there’s the fact that even if they do get around this you can always have other issues.

True.

Best guess is the generator died but none of the social media posts says exactly that.

Radio and TV now back on air. Commercials resumed at 11:40 am. Community returned 11:59:30. DAB+ still having issues.

TXA site are 20 metres away from us next door. I was at our site cutting fallen trees when it happened. Their diesel was running, so presumably a generator or ATS (switch) / electrical fault. Clear skies, but of course no Energex mains supply.

It could of happened to us just as easily as them - luck of the draw. They’ll get it sorted. We’ve both been endurance testing our gensets though a few hot summer days since Xmas, with more days likely. The damage on the mountain to the Energex network is extensive.

TXA is setup for truck refuelling, it’s a big genset. Beats our runs with multiple diesel cans

I haven’t spoken to the QLD TXA team, but other non-TXA techs have & I’ve been told the outage was caused by a faulty circuit breaker in the switchboard.

Seemed like an unusually long outage for a significant population.

I noted that the commercials had their streams running of course. But 94.1’s didn’t work until the transmitter came back on.

Suggests that 94.1’s webstream is fed off-air.
