Getting a fuel truck or bulk diesel in that neighbourhood wouldn’t be easy either with every genset in town running. Electrical suppliers like Haymans would be shut up for the long weekend too.
The blackout featured in a news report tonight. It blamed no road access to the site stopped refueling of the transmitter site.
DAB back to normal now
Yes, transmitters don’t “die”, perhaps they just wanted to put it in more simple terms?
Actually they were kinda right & transmitters do “die” when they fail to work any longer. The correct terminology is the transmitter has died, when it can’t be fixed (revived), it’s pronounced dead, same terminology can be put to the entire transmitter site, just as an electrical circuit is either live (not alive), or dead.
In this case the transmissions died, the transmitters themselves didn’t, technically they just went off. I’d say they just generalized & said they or (it) died, that sounds more dramatic to the readers rather than, it went off.
The thing that is wrong in the post is, they didn’t go Offline, they went Off Air.
Theyre off again!
Ah well @AJ1’s Breeze is still there
With the big E-skip opening now happening - all the Gold Coast commercial and community frequencies are occupied!
And Rebel? Can you get any Brisbane or NSW stations at all?
Was getting MT Nardi ABCs
Yes @Radiohead, both Rebel & Breeze available, ABC from Lower Beechmont, ABC Mt Nardi, River, Logan & Bayside community, all Brisbane FMs, 104.1 Elanora. Bris digital radio on NW facing windowsill.
Weaker on balcony reception of 100.9 Mt Nardi commercial, 101.3 Tweed community, Brisbane AMs.
Back on air now - TV and Radio… Though with the continuing SpE opening several of the stations are wiped out.
Some funny station idents running on Hot Tomato along the lines of “we’ve had the same name for 20 years”. Then going on to slam the competition for changing theirs. Stuff about localism, a reference to Gold FM being a Melbourne station (same name) etc…
That’s a bit odd. Why diss the opposition when you’re already the market leader?
You’re just doing them favours by educating the listeners that they still exist.
A little classless IMO.
102.9 Hot Tomato is live and local at Broadbeach markets this Sunday morning. Free drinks, a prize wheel and music from local artists. The markets are packed with locals and visitors and Hot Tomato is very much a part of the action.
According to Radioinfo, Al Dobie will also depart Triple M Gold breakfast.
