With the benefit of hindsight Angie & Yvie remained on Gogglebox for a year, maybe two longer than they should’ve.
Keeping in mind all the other TV that Kent & Jones have done since getting off their couch at the end of 2018, I think deciding to appear on Celebrity Gogglebox would be a regressive move for them. A far better idea would be if A&Y got their own show, podcast or some other platform to showcase their talents.
Angie has just dropped the first episode of her podcast “Angie Tries it”. In the promo video it looks like she has injected so much botox and fillers in her face that she won’t look out of place in MAFS next season.
But that’s not unprecedented, it’s primarily a Foxtel Original that has a second window airing on 10.
Well technically Foxtel haven’t officially announced it yet either, it was reported as a possibility and then confirmed to TV Tonight in a statement and then again on the TV Reload podcast.
One would imagine that Celebrity Gogglebox Australia is likely to only be a short 4-6 season thing before the regular version returns sometime around August/September?
Ten would be wise to stay away from CelebGBAU either way IMO, especially after the major ratings disaster (numbers so bad it should’ve been pulled off air before its run finished) that was Celebrity Gogglebox US last year.
Any word on when this year’s 2nd season of Gogglebox Australia is expected to begin? Or is it possible that we might even have to wait until next year (what with the current virus situation in NSW, where the bulk of this show’s households reside + the main production team is likely based) for the show to return?
I like the show but I think it should probably return early next year. The recent ratings suggest that there is some viewer fatigue of the format so they should be able to find ways to reinvigorate the show in some ways and come back early or mid next year, preferably with less weighting on realities and a bit more of other shows.
