If that is true, then the Googleboxers could have had critiqued MAFS reunion or Who Wants to be a Millionaire specials in last week’s season premiere.
Tonight they also watched Toddlers Behaving (Very) Badly that was seen on 10 several weeks ago.
I think giving that one a miss was a sensible decision by the producers, since it seems the first ep of the new season was reviewed tonight…while MAFS reviews will probably be on at least every 2nd week for the remainder of the season anyway!
No mate, they don’t have to critique every shit show on TV.
Don’t really know why they would review either of those. I actually enjoyed the programs they reviewed, and hate when a whole episode is just FTA crap. Also don’t really understand the whole conversation over the older shows getting a review, I really don’t mind as long as it’s interesting/funny etc.
Well it happened again tonight not being a channel 10 show. Chantel said she no longer wears glasses cause she’s sick of seeing so much shit (in 2020) and then the narrator said “speaking of…” and then they showed MAFS. How is that not bias? The Bachelor is shit and they eat that up.
To be fair, MAFS is commonly lapped up by most of the Goggleboxers (except for Mick and Di obviously )
Although Chantel and Jo Van Es aren’t exactly wrong about the description of MAFS. It’s a terrible show.
No surprise really. I’m sure the producers of Gogglebox would have 100% positive and 0% negative commentary about MAFS if they possibly could, given that both shows are done by the same companies (regardless of broadcast network differences).
Although thankfully there’s a little independence still expressed by a few of Australia’s most famous TV viewers + their narrator…
Yep, I agree (obviously).
Gogglebox UK is back and of course they reacted to MAFS Aus cause its huge over there atm.
It’s not bias. It’s what the entire concept of the show is based on.
The narrator has done the same to shows from every single network on a regular basis over the nine seasons.
Looks like the Goggleboxers won’t review Oprah’s interview with Harry and Meghan until next week. But good choice of shows on this week’s list.
Waiting for the fallout?
The interview itself wouldn’t have given them enough material. Better to cover the interview and fallout.
I was looking forward to the reactions to the interview. Perhaps there wasn’t enough time to include it. I don’t agree the choice of shows this week is a good selection. Rather mundane, actually. It used to be I’d be keen to watch but the show is rapidly losing its appeal. I don’t know if it’s the cast or that they repeat review the same shows. The UK version, on the other hand, I eagerly anticipate. Between Piers Morgan and the Oprah interview it should be a cracker this week. They always manage to include topical, relevant stuff.
The same shows reviewed over and over gets boring.
Same. Celebrity Gogglebox Australia is probably going to be the beginning of the end, I think.
I think it’s the repetitive program mix. How many episodes has MAFS been featured this season, probably most apart from the season return?!
Whenever the households are tasked with reviewing one of those little known gems from the public broadcasters or streaming services, the results are usually fantastic. But the same old reality shows week after week?
Agree. Love seeing reactions to off beat docos or dramas. Wouldn’t mind seeing them review an ep of The Queen’s Gambit or Naked and Afraid. The reviews of reality are only really interesting when something unusual happens like a scrag fight. You tend to see reaction to more topical stuff in the UK version, also. That isn’t done enough in our version.
This week’s episode has been branded by 10 as Oprah’s royal interview special, according to the watermark shown (as well as a promo) during The Amazing Race Australia tonight. Does it mean the whole hour will be dedicated to that interview and follow up only (and no other shows)?
I doubt the reactions to the 90 minute interview special would’ve been recorded live. I had been looking forward to the Gogglebox UK reactions to it and Piers Morgan’s GMB set walk off but it seemed pretty obvious the reactions weren’t authentic and the reviewers had already seen the content.
SBS promoting The Black Full Monty after it appeared on last night’s Gogglebox.
