Gogglebox Australia

I agree.

Although with both being EndemolShine productions (you’d think they want as much exposure and positive commentary about their shows as possible) we’ll almost certainly see Married At First Sight reviewed on Gogglebox next week.

It’s one of the most talked about shows on TV, irrespective of the production company it’ll be featured for sure.

That should mean that Today features as well.

Good point, such a pointless tagline that is.

I was surprised that MAFS reunion was not featured on last week’s season premiere, but Four Corners (which aired on the same night, January 31) was.
The last program to be reviewed was UK documentary Growing Old Disgracefully. The narrator didn’t say where the program was sourced from, but a Google search shows it’s available on both AppleTV+ and Amazon Prime Video.

Are you a regular Googlebox viewer? If you are you would know the Goggleboxers have absolutely crucified shows on 10 and Foxtel. The commentary re Holey Moley was a result of the show being woeful, not the fact it’s on 7.

It wasn’t though.

That was a significant world news event and that report opened our eyes to parts of the insurrection that we didn’t see in the nightly news.

I think the 4 Corners story was a slightly more important event to cover than a :poop: MAFS reunion. Some people might need to refocus their priorities. :stuck_out_tongue:

Also that MAFS thing was all hype and no substance. Why would you want the Goggleboxers sitting through that when they can review the show proper from this week?

In the past, yes. But I’ve slowly lost interest over time, more on that in a second…

Compared to the earlier seasons where we’d see criticism of shows like Family Feud, I think the households have considerbably softened their stance towards shows on Ten, Foxtel + other EndemolShine titles which may air on rival networks (eg, MAFS) in recent seasons as the producers have learnt just how good of a promotional vehicle positive reviews on Gogglebox can be.

Others may disagree, but personally I think a certain level of magic there was with Gogglebox Australia during the first couple of years on-air has been lost recently. And this is something which can’t just be blamed on inevitable cast changes.

Yeah, I agree with that.

For anyone interested, it will probably make it into this weeks epsiode I guess.

So did anyone notice tonight, while they were watching the show about Stuttering on SBS, that during one of the experiments in which the people on the show had to ask random people in the street a question, that one of those people seemed to be Zoe Terakes (who plays Reb in the current season(s) of Wentworth ? It definitely looked like her anyway.

Really interesting shows reviewed this week.

Don’t know if it’s been repeated more recently but SBS originally aired Stutter School on January 5, so Gogglebox were 50-51 days late with their review!

it was her . i watched that episode of suttering school

They were also late to the party with “The End” as well, which started a couple of weeks ago. Still , good that they reviewed it. It’s a great show.

Funny you should mention that, because it seems like Zoe featured in that show too!

Oh really? I’ve only watched the first 2 so far

They’ve mentioned before that they don’t necessarily have to only critique new shows or the latest episode of a show. As the executive producer told TV Tonight recently:

Love on the Spectrum first aired in November 2019, but we’d just finished Gogglebox . I thought, ‘Are you kidding me? That was brilliant! That would have absolutely slayed on Gogglebox ! I would have loved it.’ I think it got replayed at the beginning of 2020, so we did it then.

Well OK then, but this is what Jo Van Es’ voiceover promises us in the Opener to Gogglebox every week:

That ought to be changed to a less misleading “Find out what people thought about what they watched over the last seven days” IMO!

Well, they were on their TVs over the last seven days. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
