Gogglebox Australia

They are self isolating from you and the rest of the world.

But there’s no camera man in their house.

They must have somebody that comes in and sets up the equipment every week. It wouldn’t just be lying around the house all week.

Out of the three new additions to this season, Kaday and Chantel are probably the weakest. They don’t make much contribution to the program and when they do they try too hard.

Milo and Nic and the Elias Family have settled in well I think.

Gogglebox announce a big change during the Coronavirus

Some big calls have been made to ensure the safety of our beloved Goggleboxers.

While we all stay safe in the confines of our own homes, the Goggleboxers have been appearing on our screens every Wednesday, making us laugh and bringing us all together in these uncertain times.

And while our favourite families have been staying safe at home, a few will be adding extra precautions while isolation restrictions continue.

While Jad continues his home-delivery service from his restaurant, The Picnic Burwood, he’ll be appearing on FaceTime at Matty and Sarah Marie’s house, still in ‘his chair’, to make sure that baby Malik isn’t exposed to any further risk.

But don’t panic, he’ll still be bringing his hilarious one-liners to the show - he just won’t be fighting off Bane while he does it.

Also, art experts, Mick and Di have also decided to focus on their health and will be taking some time off from the couch.

“It’s only because of our age,” Di says. " Gogglebox is still going on, but because we’re in our 70s, we’re technically at higher risk. But hello, realistically, Mick and I are probably healthier than people half our age!"

“Even more than a lot of 50-year-olds,” Mick adds. “We definitely feel discriminated against,” he laughs.

However, the couple say they’re ok with skipping a bit of MAFS for the time being. “I’m very, very relieved,” Di says. “The other the plus is, there’s no football so we don’t have to watch that on TV, either.”

“There’s a lot of people that will miss Survivor, MAFS, MKR, I’ve forgotten the acronyms for the others,” Mick notes. “But I don’t think we’re going to lose a lot of sleep over it.”

While we’ll miss their hilarious dry sense of humour, we can expect to see them back on the couch in the next season of Gogglebox .

Grandmother, 91-year-old Emmie Silbery will continue to stay in isolation in the home she shares with Kerry, but you may even catch a glimpse of her through FaceTime now and then!

Sarah-Marie & Matty put Jad’s laptop on mute at one point

Meanwhile over at Milo and Nic’s

Good to see them featuring a wider variety of shows this week.

Did they review Easter with The Australian Women’s Weekly on Ten? And if so, was the commentary softer/more positive than in 2015 when it was on Nine?

No. They reviewed: MAFS, Survivor Finale, House Rules, an SBS doco on Tutankhamen and Netflix titles Glow Up and Tiger King.

This week they reviewed Food Safari Water, an SBS show which aired on LifeStyle on Foxtel. Why didn’t they watch the show when it premiered on SBS in 2018?

You want them to watch everything? I don’t see an issue, they’ve reviewed movies in the past which surely would’ve been shown on other networks :man_shrugging:t3:

Because they want to cross promote Foxtel and 10 shows.

Maybe because there’s only so many reviews that one can fit into an episode and/or because Food Safari Water wasn’t on air while Gogglebox was?

Tonight’s Goggleboxers’ reviews of The Bold And The Beautiful, not only one of the funniest segments of the show ever, but it seemed to suggest some element of live viewing based on the pop up seen.

The UK do maybe 10 more episodes a year - but they have a larger pool of families to use, its not uncommon for families to not be in some episodes

I would prefer to see 3 seasons of 8 episodes that way it’s only up an extra 4 episodes

The UK also has a population some 2-3 times bigger than ours with a far bigger TV culture to go with it, so it’s probably more viable for their version of Gogglebox to have an extended run.

Also, I’m not sure if there are any versions of Gogglebox other than ours which are shown on two networks.

GOGGLEBOX AUSTRALIA CELEBRATES ITS 100TH EPISODE!

Tonight at 7.30pm on LifeStyle and the following day at 8.30pm on 10.

Pop the champagne and settle in to celebrate the milestone 100th episode of the highly successful local production Gogglebox Australia , tonight at 7.30pm on Foxtel’s LifeStyle channel. Currently in its 11th season, Gogglebox shows no signs of slowing down, as the most watched program on the Foxtel platform every Wednesday night it has aired this year.

Goggleboxers from the very first episode, Lee and Keith can’t believe it. “I thought it was a ridiculous idea when we were first approached by a casting agent. I actually politely told her to go away!” says Lee.

“It’s hilarious to think we’ve done 100 episodes and people still want to watch us. Cheers to that and a big thanks to all the fans who love the show. It’s a lot of fun for us.” says Keith.

In the 100th episode our Goggleboxers tune in for the launch of Nine’s Lego Masters , thank those on the front line of the pandemic with Nat Geo’s coverage of One World: Together At Home, and explore the Australian landscape with David Attenborough on Nine’s Seven Worlds One Planet . The first elimination challenge of 10’s MasterChef Australia All Stars had their tastebuds tingling, while SBS’s screening of the award-winning docu-film about free climbing, Free Solo saw many of our Goggleboxers on the edge of their seats.

Gogglebox Australia is an Endemol Shine Australia production for Foxtel and Network 10 and airs Wednesdays at 7.30pm on LifeStyle and the following day at 8.30pm on 10.

The UK version has traditionally been a lot broader in terms of what is covered as well
