General News Events - Coverage Discussion

Looks like ABC Breakfast was first with this story today, well ahead of commercials.

Live coverage of voice date announcement on all networks. Seven used the whole 30 minutes from 11:30 AEST for coverage delaying morning news to midday. Nine slotted the coverage into morning news, 10 showed the date announcement and them followed with more at midday.

I’m in Perth currently, I caught some of this live on 10’s live stream on Facebook, but 7 were still showing advertorials on TMS and 10 were showing B&B locally.

9 eventually joined with 9 News, but the ABC, SBS/NITV were all live straight off the bat.

No surprises with Ten, but WTF are Nine doing? Rather surprising. GTV probably think everyone is watching HSV and with NRL and being Sydney handled too difficult.

Bec hosted on 7. Clint on 9.

What’s in the water at Seven Melbourne at the moment? They seem to be breaking news left, right and centre.

Minimal coverage of the earthquake in Morocco which has killed just over 1000 people.

Relevance to Australia? Would assume it would get a story in the news recap at the top of the hour but shouldn’t expect much else.

Number 1 story on Sunrise, Today and News Breakfast this morning.

Nine currently have an advantage as their correspondent is on the ground. I expect the ABC and Seven are yet to arrive.

Seven showing CNN filed stories on Sunrise.
Nine also interviewing Australians in the affected area.

This story/disaster has definitely escalated over night.
